This document provides the procedure for changing over the running forced draft (FD) fan with the reserve FD fan at the TCPL-1X63.75 MW power plant. The key steps are: (1) ensure manual control and oil levels; (2) check performance of running fan; (3) start the reserve fan and check for abnormalities; (4) gradually open the inlet guide vanes of the reserve fan while closing the running fan to maintain airflow; (5) after closing the running fan's vanes, stop the fan once the damper is closed. The changeover must be completed without delay and in the presence of supervising engineers.

PROCEDURE FOR FD FAN CHANGEOVER
Introduction: In the view of energy conservation it has been decided to run one FD Fan instead of two fans. The standby equipment should be checked for the healthiness in a periodic interval. So it has been decided to change the FD Fan every first Wednesday of the month. The procedure given below should be followed while changeover. FD Fan specification Power : 300 KW Current : 34.7 A Speed : 1491 rpm Voltage : 6.0 KV Procedure for changeover of running FD fan with reserve FD fan 1. Ensure that both FD fan IGV control in manual mode 2. Ensure the bearing oil level of the reserve fan 3. Ensure the full close condition of IGV and Outlet damper of reserve Fan 4. Check the current and IGV opening percentage of running fan & total air flow 5. Check that the rotor of reserve fan is in standstill condition. 6. Start the reserve Fan and check the condition of the fan in local. In case any abnormality like unusual noise, vibration etc., stop the fan. 7. Open the outlet damper of incoming fan keeping a watch on fan performance from local and also watching the total airflow for any variation. 8. Gradually open the IGV of incoming fan and close the IGV of running fan maintaining total air flow constant 9. After the full close of the IGV of fan to be stopped, check the current of both FD fans. 10. Close the outlet damper of fan to be stopped (check for closure of damper &IGV from local also) and then stop the fan. Note: 1.From start of reserve fan to stopping of running fan the operation should be carried out with out undue delay. 2.Change over will be done in the presence of SCE and Sr.Engineer (O&E) 3.Review of this document will be done after one year
