Class: 7th std

I. Answer the following.

1. What is cutting edge technology? Name the most popular cutting-edge technologies?
A: cutting edge technology commonly refers to the latest computer and electronic
technology that uses the most current and advanced IT developments
The most popular cutting-edge technologies are.
a) Augmented reality
b) Virtual reality
c) Artificial intelligence
d) Internet of things
e) Big data analytics
2. What is Augmented Reality (AR)? Write any 3 applications of augmented reality?
A. Augmented reality involves adding computer generated content to the real world, so that
the content looks as if it is also part of that real world.
The applications of Augmented Reality are:
a) AR is being used in education to create interactive models and simulations to teach
various subjects, especially science.
b) AR is used in military for advanced navigation and for obtaining real time data of threats
and targets.
c) AR is used as visualisation aid to explain complicated surgical procedures to medical
students as well as patients.
3. Explain different types of augmented reality?
A. There are four types of augmented reality.
a) Marker less AR:
 Marker less AR is position based or location based.
 To work it needs a device with GPS that can provide data based on your location.
 Most smartphones use this location-detection technology to provide you
information about the traffic, or restaurants, hospitals, shopping malls, and even cab
services in your vicinity.
b) Marker based AR:
 Marker Based AR is also known as image recognition.
 To work, it needs a device with camera and a visual marker.
 When the camera reads the visual marker, the content linked to that marker gets
displayed.
 This technology is widely used in QR codes 0r to view digital content such as
animations or 3D based models.
c) Projection based AR:
 Projection based AR involves projecting artificial light onto a real-world physical
surface.
 The user can interact with this projected light.
 The AR senses any interaction by detecting changes in light.
Ex: Virtual keyboard
d) Superimposition-based AR:
 Superimposition-based AR involves replacing the original view of an object partially
or fully with an augmented view of the same object.
 For Superimposition-based AR to work, object recognition play an important role.
Ex: Gaming Apps and furniture-based shops etc
4. What is virtual reality (VR) ? Write any 3 applications of virtual reality.
A. Virtual reality (VR) refers to near reality, computer generated environment that a user can
explore and interact with.
The applications of Virtual Reality (VR) are:
a) VR is being applied to visualize and understand complex scientific experiments.
b) VR technology is making its presence felt in gaming industry. Several action-packed
games such as racing games and sports games can now be played using VR technology.
c) VR is now being is used in telemedicine.
5. What is the Difference between AR and VR?
AR VR
In AR Only objects are computer In VR, the objects as well as the
generated whole environment are

6. What is artificial intelligence (AI)? Write any 3 applications of AI.
A. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a field of study in computer science that aims to create
intelligent machines that think and react to situations in the same way as human beings.
The applications of AI are as follows.
a) Many modern cars have AI based features such as self-parking and advanced cruise
controls. AI is being used by some major automobile manufacturers to develop self-
driving cars.
b) AI is being used to develop natural language processing (NLP) that can enable a
computer to understand and communicate in human beings.
c) AI is also being used to develop intelligent autopilots for aircrafts that can mimic
the behaviour of a human pilot even in case of emergencies.
7. Why is artificial intelligence a challenging field? Why is it seen as a potential threat by some
people?
A. AI is a challenging field because for machines to act and behave like human beings, we need
to feed a large amount of information about the world into them.
Introducing the concepts of common sense, problem-solving, and reasoning are difficult
tasks.
The research associated with AI is highly technical and advanced.
Some people believe that creating machines that are as intelligent as human beings might
prove to be dangerous to humanity, if left unsupervised.
8. Define IoT(Internet of Things)? Write any 3 applications of IOT?
A. IoT refers to the linking of physical device around us to the internet and to each other so
that they can collect and exchange data.
The applications of IoT are as follows.
a) IOT devices are being used to create smart homes and smart offices where even the
smallest devices are connected to ensure that functions such as heating, air conditioning
and lighting are automated.
b) Smart watches and wearable health tracker are also examples of IoT devices.
c) IoT devices can also be used for monitoring the environment – checking air quality,
detecting presence of toxic substances in water.
9. Explain the working of IoT?

10. What is big data? What do you mean by big data analytics?
A. Big data refers to large volumes of complex data that cannot be processed using the usual
data-processing applications.
Big data analytics is the process of examining big data, to analyze market trends, understand
customer preferences, and obtain other useful information.
11. What are features of big data analytics?
The following are the features of big data analytics.
 Volume – A large volume of data can be handled effectively, unlike traditional data
processing applications that are not equipped to do so.
 Velocity – the speed at which the data is processed is fast.
 Variety – different types of data (such as text, numbers, image, audio, and video) can be
processed and stored.
These are also called the 3V’s of big data analytics.
12. What are the advantages of big data analytics?
A. The advantages of big data analytics are as follows:
a) Improved customer service
b) Better performance analysis
c) Better management of large amount of data
d) Identification of risk or fraud
13. Write any 3 applications of big data analytics?
 Search engines use data analysis to deliver the best result for a searched query in a
fraction of a second.
 When you upload your image with friends on social media, you start getting suggestions
to tag your friends.
 You can compare the price of any product from multiple vendors at one place with the
help of price comparison websites.
