COURSE DESCRIPTION
A literal and theological study of the New Testament the emphasis on the birth, life and deeds of
Jesus Christ, passion narratives, his death and resurrection and the events that happened after his
resurrection as recorded in the gospels and in the book of Acts of apostles.
The New Testament Epistles will also be explored.
CORUSE OBJECTIVES
By end of the course unit, students should be able to:
1) Examine the life of Jesus, his ministry, his death and resurrection and what happen after
his resurrection.
2) To explore the canonicity of the New Testament, the life and work of the early church
and the challenges faced.
3) Explore the contents and theology in some of the New Testament epistles.
COURSE CONTENT
New Testament canonicity 5 hours
The early church period 10 hours
The synoptic problem 6 hours
Gospels; the gospel of Mark, the gospel of Luke, and the gospel of John. 12 hours
Epistles; st. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, letter to the Galatians, the first letter of
peter, James’ letter. 12 hours
