I. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

List all activities that you do in 3 consecutive days. (From waking time to sleeping time).
Measure the time spent in each activity. Compare your activities for the three days.
Take note of activities that were done routinely. Are there differences in time spent for
the same activity? Explain

 I wake up 6 am in the morning to have coffee and after that I go to bathroom to

take a bath ang get ready to my first subject 7:30 am to 8:30 am my class MWF
ended at 3:00 pm after that I have 30 minutes to get ready for my work, I have to
travel 20 to 30 minutes to get to my work place located at villaverde, nueva
vizcaya and I go out to work at 9pm and my boss usually drive me home at 10pm
after I got home 10:30 I will eat my dinner and read a little bit of my tomorrow
class. The day after that I will get up 8 am in the morning have coffee, take a bath
and get ready for my 9 am class and ends at 4pm get dress and prepare to go to
work and 4:30 I will go to my work and do my job, and ended up at 10 pm and my
boss always takes me home at 10 pm and 10:30 is my regular dinner time. Watch
some Netflix for 2hours and go to sleep at 2 am.
 Are there differences in time spent for the same activity? Yes because sometimes
I cannot control my time specially when I’m taking a bath usually I have only 10 to
20 mins on to washup but when I’m listening to music I finished 30 mins and I’m
running late for that, secondly is travel time everyday I only have 30 minutes to
travel to my work but since I don’t have a vehicle It took time to arrive. And also
there are times that event are upredictable.

ASSIGNMENT

1. What is job design, and why is it important?

 Job design is the process of establishing employees' roles and responsibilities

and the systems and procedures that they should use or follow. The main
purpose of job design, or redesign, is to coordinate and optimise work processes
to create value and maximise performance.
 Job design is an important aspect of human resource practice. It affects the
organisational effectiveness. It also plays an important role in improving quality of
working life. It designs the tasks required to complete the job successfully.
2. What are some of the main advantages and disadvantages of specialization
from a management perspective? From a worker’s perspective

 specialization refers to the production method of an organization focusing on

increasing efficiency. Specialization allows an individual to concentrate their
efforts and thereby becoming more proficient in their efforts. For managers,
specialization simplifies training, works to increase productivity and provides with
lower wage costs. However, managers find that through specialization they find it
difficult to motivate and deal with workers dissatisfaction. From an employee
perspective specialization offers low education and skill requirements, minimum
responsibility, and little mental effort needed. However, the work is found to be
monotonous, specialization offers little opportunity for advancement, in addition to
little control over the work, or little opportunity for any self-fulfillment.

3. How do you define a good quality of work life?

 Quality of work-life or QWL can be defined as the total quality of an employee's work-
life at an organization. Not only QWE is tied to happier employees but also better
business results. When the quality of work-life is stable, productivity is bound to
increase. So does the level of employee retention
