Module Guide for HRM: Human Resource Management

responsive communities competent and socially responsible professionals and leaders.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to acquaint the student with the principles and methods related to the effective utilization of personnel in the business
organization. It will develop relations involved in recruitment, selection, placement, training, and supervision of employees. It will also include an introduction
to the organized labor movement and current labor relations conditions.

PRE-REQUISITE: BC-MGMT

NUMBER OF UNITS: 3 Units Lecture

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Analyze human resource needs and identify the financial, legal, ethical, social, compensation, and ethical factors involved in managing personnel and enforcing
policies, rules, and procedures.
2. Compare the management techniques used to deal with change-management and conflict resolution in the workplace including the social and legal ramifications
from “rightsizing” or “downsizing” an organization.
3. Describe the human relations opportunities and challenges that arise from union versus non-union operations, and the impact of globalization and diversity in the
modern workplace.
4. Understand the role of various motivational theories, reward strategies, and life-work balance considerations in maximizing individual and group performance.
5. Describe how individual and group behavioural theories, leadership styles and human resource management concepts are applied in the workplace
6. Explain the relationship between technology and people in the modern workplace and illustrate both the opportunities and the challenges.
7. Understand the HR Management and system at various levels in general and in certain specific industries or organizations.
8. Analyze the issues and strategies required to select and develop manpower resources.
9. Develop relevant skills necessary for application in HR related issues.
10. Integrate the understanding of various HR concepts along with the domain concept in order to take correct business decisions.
