HENERAL LUNA

I. Summary

The story took place during the Philippine-American War, focusing on the
leadership of Heneral Luna to the Philippine Revolutionary Army. It revolved not only
about the war against the Americans, but mainly on the conflict among Filipinos. The
issue was about the presence of Americans and other Filipinos supporting the
Americans’ ways such as Buencamino and Paterno. The idea of fellow Filipinos
supporting Americans enraged Heneral Luna for he was very patriotic and strongly
fought for the freedom of the Philippines. Though Luna was considered to be a great
leader of the army, some were against his leadership for others envy or were
threatened by his presence. He had conflicts with other fellow generals such
Mascardo which lead to more hatred against Luna.

Luna was assassinated at Aguinaldo’s headquarters. He was framed that the

President called him, though upon his arrival he already left and Buencamino was the
one in the office. During their argument, shots were fired outside so Luna went out to
inspect. The brutal killing happened as Janolino appeared, captain of Kawit that he
also had a fight with, killing him along with the other soldiers against Luna. He was
shot and stabbed repeatedly to death. Other loyal soldiers to Luna were killed
including the Bernal brothers. Heneral Luna was buried with full military honors as
ordered by Aguinaldo by the same men who killed him.

Heneral Antonio Luna’s killers were never found and still remains a controversy up
to now

III. Personal Insights

In the movie, my personal insight and the thing that I really don’t understand is
why would they do that. Why the Filipinos would kill Filipino it is somehow like they
also killed the freedom of our country. I could say that Gen. Luna was right, Filipinos
worst enemy are himself. It is us who killed him.

IV. Comments and Suggestions

I could not say anything bad about the movie, the movie was so great, and so
educational. All the actors who portrayed the characters are so amazing, the way
they act it looks like they are the really historical person. The production and
everything on the movie are also magnificent. To be honest I’ve already watched this
several times and whenever I re-watch this all over again I still feel the same
amusement with their acting skills.
 EL PRESIDENTE
I. Summary
Ang El Presidente ay tungkol sa buhay ni Presidente Emilio Aguinaldo kung panu siya
naging unang presidente ng Pilipinas. Pinakita dito kung pano nya pinag-laban ang kalayaan ng
bawat pilipino sa mga mananakop sa ating bansang Pilipinas. Sa panunuod ko ng El Presidente
ang pagkakaalam ko lang sa buong buhay ko ay si Emilio Aguinaldo ang unang presindente ng
pilipinas. Hindi ko alam kung panu nya tayo pinag-laban sa mga kastila at amerikano. Bago ko
mapanuod ko ang penikula na iyong may na babalitaan na ko kontrobersyal kung sino talaga
ang unang naging presidente ng Pilipinas. Pero bago ko panuorin ang El Presidente ay pinanuod
ko muna ang penikulang “Bonifacio ang unang supremo” pinanuod ko ito kahit malabo ang na
kuha kong kopya. Base sa pinanuod kong Bonifacio tugma ang mga sinabi samen ng aming
guro sa paksang kasaysayan ng pilipinas ang buhay ni Bonifacio. Habang pinapanuod ko ang
El Presidente na guluhan ako kung anu ba talaga ang totoo kung nagtaksil ba si Bonifacio sa
bayan natin o hindi, kasi pinakita duon na nagnakaw si bonifacio at pumatay ng kapwa Pilipino.
Pinakita din duon na totoo yun pinawalang bisa ni Bonifacio ang unang halalan dahil sa
pamamaliit sa kanya at hindi ni respeto ang resulta at desisyon ng mga boto kasi iyong ang
usapan gagalangin at irerespeto ang resulta. Pinakita din na parang na sulsulan si Aguinaldo ng
kanyang mga gabinete na ang gusto nila ay hatulang ng kamatayan si Bonifacio kahit gusto ni
Aguinaldo ay ipatapong lang si Bonifacio. Nainis ako kay Heneral Antonio Luna dahil sa ugali
nyan makasarili at hindi maka-taong gawain. Pero ganun lang talaga pag nagkaruon ka ng
kapangyarihan at mataas na posisyon sa gobyerno. Sa panunuod ko ng El Presidente marami
akong tanung na naiisip sa akin isipan kung totoo ba ang lahat nangyari sa penikula, kung
maraming dagdag at bawas para luminis at gumanda ang penikula. Alam naman natin na ang
pamilyang Aguinaldo at Bonifacio ay hindi padin magkasundo hanggang sa ngayon. Gusto kong
bumalik sa nakaraan para malamang ang katotohanan at maayos sa kasalukuyan. Kung
maayos natin ang nakaraan, magiging maayos din kung anung meron tayo ngayon sa atin
gobyerno. Ang umangat ang antas natin sa pamumuhay.

I. Personal Insights
The movie take glance at the life of Emilio Aguinaldo (E.R Ejercito) it begins with him as
a child, unaware of the great life ahead of him, receiving a strange prediction from an elder
fortune teller. His joining of the Katipunan, his leadership in Cavite, his conflict with Anres
Bonifacio (Cesar Montano), the struggle for recognition of the country's sovereignty, the tension
with Antonio Luna also witness here what happen to the declaration of independence of the
Philippine from the Spanish conquest at the Americans, running and defeat in the second
elections and the second world war.
Before I watch El Presidente previously thought it was a story or myth. I first watched it
on T.V that the title of segment is "BAYANI". As a child, I knew there were to few heroes like Dr.
Jose P. Rizal, A. Bonifacio, M. Aquino, A. Mabini, E. Aguinaldo and others. But as I watch a
movie so much more I have met many heroes including the american. My imagination was widen
and i met their personality as well as the events of that period. Because of this movie I know the
cause of their deaths, election fraud and other cases that have not been verified, until now is
controversial of some historian and there are still many questions unanswered.
II. Comments and Suggestion
While watching a movie I have noticed to the films. Some are Positive and some are
Negative. A film that financed, many actors who puts in a character sometimes right, sometimes
not. Bonifacio retrieved good, but too bad and made a bad supremo and also Antonio Luna.
Obviously, the movie actually prejudiced for Aguinaldo. Yet, despite this the result was good in
the film and also in Philippine History. Life was not exactly and too bias. In the end, still showed
the message every hero. contemporary the filipino's love for the motherland.
