WORKSHEET UNIT II

The principles of language assessment (Practicality, Reliability, Validity,

Authenticity and Washback)

Worksheet ( Student self-reflection )

a. What qualities do I possess from the material above

The qualities from the material is good, because from the material above, the
material focuses on the unique challenges on the listening assessment to teachers
and teacher‘s training students. The chapter then reviews the research on a number
of practical issues in using the visual channel of listening assessment through
choosing different types and responses formats in assessing students‘ listening
performance.

b. What one quality would describe the materials above to describe my

understanding ?

The students will engage with the technique of assessing listening; choosing the
audio, choosing a quiz format, choosing a type of a quiz and proceed to creation.
Those basic technique of listening assessment will bring the teacher
trainingnstudents into the activities that relates to the assessment in language
learning. So, the students is allowed to think critically in group discussion about
language assessment.

c. What resources did you use while reading this module? Which ones were
especially helpful? Which ones would you use in your language assessment?

In my opinion, in this unit wwhich ones that helpful is Homophones because

Homophones are easy to remember if you think of your Greek roots. Homo means
―same.‖ Phone means ―sound.‖ So homophones are literally two words
whose names have the same sound. One example of this are the words hare and
hair. If you hear them out loud without seeing them written down, you don‘t know
if you are talking about a hare (rabbit), or a hair (growing on your head). Context
helps you know which one is meant, as well.

d. The concept that I remember from this module

If you decide to simply type up a Word document, it shouldn‘t take you too long,
as you‘ve already decided what type of task you‘ll be focusing on in the previous
steps. You‘ll also have all the information you‘ll need from having listened to the
audio. If you decide to use an online quiz maker, the software should guide you
through the steps

Concept : An important facet of consequential validity is the extent to which

―students view the assessment as fair, relevant, and useful for improving
learning

e. After reading this module, I noticed:

A. Homophones: sound alike (mail, male)/may have the same spelling

but different meanings

B. Homonyms: sound alike and usually spelled alike (watch,

watch)/have to see how it is used in the context of a sentence to determine
meaning

C. Homographs: have the same spelling but different pronunciation

and different meanings ―I wind the toy. The wind is blowing hard.‖
