1.2 Strategic Planning - Facilitate the design, development, implementation, communication, and
evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans.

Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was your individual
contribution(s)?
The School Improvement Plan/Technology Plan Analysis required me to read, understand, and
analyze my school’s current mission and vision and targeted areas for improvement. Through
doing this, I also had to find and explain how these plans addressed the needs of diverse
populations and develop recommendations for how to provide equal access to learners who are
not currently addressed in these plans. Since the district does not have a specific technology plan
currently in place, I shared which technology tools were currently included in the SIP and
developed how to include technology in future plans. As it currently stands, a variety of
technology tools and resources are available, but there are currently no trainings or specific
expectations for using technology. In this analysis, I address how to include technology in the SIP
as well as ideas for development of a specific technology plan.

Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed.
Through the completion of the SIP/Technology Plan Analysis, I facilitated the design and
development of a technology plan for Pepperell Middle School. Since there are already technology
tools and resources available to teachers, the best place to start is to educate teachers on how to
use what is already available appropriately and effectively. I worked in close communication with
administration and district leaders while developing this plan to ensure I was meeting their
expectations and setting realistic expectations for teachers. My plan includes implementing
professional development for teachers throughout the school year that allows them to learn how to
use the tools and resources available, develop technology-rich learning experiences for their
students, and get help in areas where they struggle. Throughout the implementation process, I will
evaluate how teachers are developing their skills to make adjustments for future professional
development and at the end of the school year, I will share a survey with teachers for further
evaluation so they can share how they feel the professional development sessions did or did not
allow them to grow in their ability to incorporate technology into their teaching practice.

What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the
quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact? (Not changing anything is
not an acceptable response.)
Completing this artifact allowed me the opportunity to see where my school and district
currently are and how positive changes can be implemented for further growth. Since technology is
already present in the schools and classrooms in our district, it surprised me there wasn’t a specific
technology plan in place with expectations for use. To better improve this artifact, I would work
side-by-side with other teachers in my school to gain new insight on opinions of the current
treatment of technology-related issues in the SIP and how others feel technology issues could be
represented differently. My opinion is just one of several within the school building so I think having
the ideas of others within the same school would give a better depiction of what could be changed
or further developed to have better success.

How did the work that went into creating this artifact impact school improvement, faculty
development, or student learning? How can this impact be assessed?
Creating this artifact helped me begin an outline for a technology plan that could be
implemented in my district based on the current School Improvement Plan. Our system is 1:1 and
teachers and students have access to technology in the classroom on a daily basis. Having a plan in
place that addresses the expectations for using these devices as well as other technology tools and
resources is a must. By outlining a plan that could be implemented, I have begun work toward
school improvement because the technology tools already available are vaguely represented in the
school improvement plan. Having a specific plan and expectations for how to use these tools would
further develop the SIP. This will also improve faculty development by providing professional
development for teachers to learn how to use these tools and student learning by having specific
expectations on how technology will enhance learning experiences.
