Course Title: Computer Aided Design Course Code: 15BME-0CD41T

Semester: VII Academic Year: 2019-20 Core/Elective: Core Credits: 3
Course Designed by: Anand Sharma Course Instructor: Anand Sharma
E-mail: anandsharma@ansaluniversity.edu.in E-mail: anandsharma@ansaluniversity.edu.in
Pre-requisites: Fundamental knowledge of computer aided engineering drawing.

1. Course Introduction and Objectives:

The course will cover the concepts and application of orthographic projection, isometric
representation and auxiliary views. Students will be introduced to 3-D visualization using
computer wire frame and surface modeling techniques. This course provides hands on
introduction to the use of computer aided design (CAD) for mechanical engineering design
processes. This course will enable students to explore and gain further understanding of how the
computers can be used in Manufacturing Industry. This course will also provide students with
opportunity to explore the innovation in design the product using both Solid Works and Pro/e
software

2. Course Learning/Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student is expected to

 Describe the principles of CAD systems and the concepts of Geometric modelling , solid
modelling and feature-based design modelling.
 Compare the different types of modeling techniques and explain the central role solid
models play in the successful completion of CAD/CAM- based product development.
 Develop transformations for 2D geometric modeling and create and design mechanical
parts and elements in 2D transformations.
 explain the basic principle of part programming for CNC machine and apply appropriate
operations, cutting parameters to machine parts
 Design and validate technological solutions to defined problems and communicate clearly
and effectively for the practical application of their work.
