The Three Liitle Pigs

Let’s Criticize!

1. Who are the characters of the story?

The characters in the story are:
• The mother pig
• The three little pigs
• The fox

2. How do the character's words and actions

characterize them? Describe each.
• The mother pig is characterized for being
selfless and brave for sending his piglets out
in the world.
• The first little pig is characterized for being
lazy
• The second pig is a mediocre type of pig who also do work but with less effort.
• The third pig is a clever and hardworking type of pig who works all day in building his house.
• The fox is characterized for being greedy, wild and dense.

3. What do the pigs symbolize?

The pigs symbolizes how important it is to invest time and effort in making something
that we want. The story wants to instil in our minds that hard work and commitment pays
off – “The Three Little Pigs” teaches us that hard work and dedication pays off. 
To have more free time to play, the first two pigs quickly established their houses but
being easily destroyed. On the other hand, the third pig has invested time, effort and energy in
building his house and with the result, his house was strong enough not to be blown by the fox.
In life, we should make ourselves sturdy enough not to be blown easily by life challenges. Thus,
we should prepare ourselves for the possible circumstances that may come along the way. So
when the time comes, we already know what to do since we have prepared ourselves long time
ago.

4. What does the wolf symbolize?

For me, the wolf represents or symbolizes the problems or circumstances that may knock
on our lives. These problems may be easy to solve and some might be hard. But along with those
circumstances, we can still overcome it by making ourselves prepared just like what the third pig
had shown. In life there are plan A's and B, but we should learn to extend our plans enough until
E so that we'll have lots of choices to choose in overcoming those unforeseen circumstances.
