CHARACTERIZATION
Setting
 Place - Geographical location; where is the action of the
story taking place?
 Time - Historical period, time of day, year, etc.; when is the
story taking place?
 Weather Conditions - Is it rainy, sunny, stormy, etc.?
 Social Conditions - What is the daily life of the characters’
like? Does the story contain local color (writing that
focuses on the speech, dress, mannerisms, customs, etc. of
a particular place)?
 Mood or atmosphere - What feeling is created at the
beginning of the story?

message about life or human nature
that is communicated by a literary
work.

In other words, THEME is what the


story teaches readers.

What is the theme?

The theme of the story is that hard work pays


off. The foundation we build for ourselves is
important because it determines the stability of
our lives in the future. Although it took long for
the third pig to build his house, in the end, it
was the one that saved them from the bad wolf.
