The CUES column consists of the following:

● words or groups of words (also called PHRASES) to help you remember the ideas
you put in the notes.

● Questions that your notes can answer.

STEP #1

Find your Cornell Notes set from ​The Hobbit,​ Chapters 1 - 4.

STEP #2

Click in the CUES column.

STEP #3

Look at the ideas in the notes column. Find the two or three most important words in each
answer. Highlight them in ​BLUE. ​Then ​RETYPE t​hem in the ​CUES​ column.

STEP #4

Look at your ideas in the notes again. Pretend these ideas were answers on a test. Think about
what the questions might be. TYPE those questions in the ​CUES​ column.

The SUMMARY column consists of the following:

Summary:

In the story The Three Little Pigs, a wolf tries to blow down three pigs’ houses. He blows
down the first two and the pigs flee to escape. When the wolf tries to blow down the third
house he is not successful. When he tries to enter the house through the chimney he comes
to a horrible end.
