is also trying to make happiness and well-being simple, fun and easy to apply for the
masses, i.e. democratisation of happiness. One of its projects is to explore happiness
in the eight metro and new metro cities in India. Its focus is to start small with a
positive solution-oriented approach. By taking small steps, it hopes to make some
meaningful contribution to the happiness of India and the world over time.

Kerala Happiness Festival 2021

Concept and Objectives

Kerala Happiness Festival is an annual festival on happiness in Kerala. This Festival

aims to bring together experts from various fields to explore, discuss, and share
insights on happiness in Kerala. Our focus is to start small with a positive, solution-
oriented approach. By taking small steps, we hope to make some meaningful
contributions over time.

We are going through an unforeseen COVID-19 crisis. It has impacted not only
physical health but is also difficult for mental health. The need for happiness was
never more than these COVID times as we have seen our friends and family suffer.
Research shows a positive impact of happiness on immunity and mental health. We
are trying our bit to share research-based ideas on happiness to provide a bit of relief
during these unprecedented crisis times.
The Kerala Happiness Festival 2021 has three aims as shared below :

1. Happiness has a positive impact on our health, including immunity. So, in the
Gandhian spirit of not losing hope, we try to share some inputs on happiness through
the Kerala Happiness Festival.

2. It is trying to raise funds for COVID relief, and all the registration money
received will be donated to the cause of COVID relief.

3. It is the inaugural edition of the annual Festival to create a platform for happiness
in Kerala.

Agenda

In the midst of death, life persists;

In the midst of untruth, truth persists;
In the midst of darkness, light persists.
Mahatma Gandhi (Young India, Oct. 11, 1928)
The COVID crisis is challenging, and we have seen our friends and family suffer. In
the Gandhian spirit highlighted in the above quote, we try to share some inputs on
happiness.
Our focus is on a positive solution-oriented approach, more so in the current COVID
situation. We are not here to criticise anyone, including any individual, organisation,
religion, government, political party etc.
Happiness increases by showing gratitude for what we already have and building from
what we already have rather than focusing on what we don't have.
