Food Packs: For the Survival of Every Family

Food packs, also known as "relief goods," are typically distributed to low-income
households. It usually consists of rice, canned goods, such as sardines, meat loaf, pork
and beans, coffee, milk and noodles, enough to last for a few days. Food packs provide
immediate assistance in the event of a disaster or calamity. With the on-going pandemic
that the country is experiencing now and with restrictions on movement and other
precautions being taken, food packs have become a very important aid for a lot of
people. A lot of people find themselves with no jobs and no source of income. Some
work was suspended, casual and contractual jobs were lost due to termination, and
some companies resorted to flexible work arrangements with their employees with
reduced pay. Daily wage earners under the "no work, no pay" scheme are forced to look
for other sources of income. Some local government units still continue to provide food
packs to their communities. Without these food packs, families would surely go hungry.
Also, with the new work arrangements and reduced pay that a lot of workers are
experiencing, food packs being distributed by local government units and other private
individuals and groups definitely help a lot of families. It is very important that the
distribution of food packs continues during these times until the crisis is over and
everything is back to normal. The distribution of food packs ensures that a family has
food on their tables and will undoubtedly alleviate the burden of not eating for the day.
