Question No.3 (35 points)

Describe the different gender roles exhibited in the above documentary video.

The woman who sells raw "pagpag" at the dump site has to quit her job because she has to take care
and accompany her children, but she has to get an income to feed and support her family, as well as
Aling Marissas. She cooks and sells left-over food in their community while taking care of her family, and
her husband is the one who gets the leftovers at the dump site and delivers them to their house. So,
based on what I have seen, the role of a woman in this story is to take care of the family and earn
money as well, and the role of a man, who is the father, is to work and help the wife with their business.
They are the ones who have to transport for the needs of their family, like what Aling Marinas's husband
does. And what I think is that these women are powerful. They are also earning from their own hardship
to support their family, but their role of taking care of their family is still there. They are capable of doing
it simultaneously, which not only occurs in this story but also to many other women around the world,
including my mother. These women shoulder a lot of responsibility, but they are not grumbling because
they enjoy caring for their family and mothers' love is unwavering. In addition, they frequently forgo
their careers to look after their kids.
