ACTIVITY 1

Upon seeing the picture of these children, I immediately felt a deep sense of empathy
and sadness for them. It is heart breaking to think that many children would have to endure
such a difficult and deprived existence. Every child deserves to be provided with basic
necessities, such as shelter, food, and education, and to live a happy life. Unfortunately, for
these children, these basic needs were out of their reach, and it is likely that their dreams of a
better life may never be realized. It is a sobering realization that many other children around
the world are facing similar situations, and the situation may only worsen with time.
The issue of children living in poverty and homelessness is a heartbreaking and
complex problem that affects millions of children in the Philippines and even around the
world. Children are among the most vulnerable members of society and face a range of
challenges that can have lifelong consequences. Children living in poverty often experience
inadequate housing, limited access to healthcare and education, and a lack of basic resources
such as food and clean water. They may also be exposed to violence, abuse, and exploitation.
These conditions can have a profound impact on their physical, emotional, and cognitive
development, and can severely limit their opportunities for success in the future.
One of the most visible and distressing forms of child poverty is homelessness.
Children living on the streets are often subjected to extreme levels of hardship and danger.
They may lack access to basic necessities such as shelter, food, and clean water, and are often
forced to resort to begging, stealing, or other forms of survival. They are at high risk of
physical and sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking, and often suffer from a range of
health problems, including malnutrition, respiratory illnesses, and substance abuse.
Furthermore, children living in poverty are less likely to have access to quality
education, as they may not be able to afford tuition fees or transportation to school. This lack
of education can limit their future opportunities and leave them trapped in a cycle of poverty.
The economic opportunities available to children living in poverty are also limited.
They may not have access to job opportunities or job training programs that could help them
escape poverty. Without access to economic opportunities, they may be unable to provide for
themselves or their families, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.
Despite their challenges, children living in the streets can display resilience and
resourcefulness in their efforts to survive. They may form close bonds with other children in
similar situations and create their own support networks. Some may also participate in
community outreach programs or receive assistance from charitable organizations that help
improve their living conditions and provide access to essential services.
In conclusion, children living in poverty and on the streets face numerous challenges
that can have long-term consequences on their lives. Without access to healthcare, education,
and economic opportunities, they may struggle to escape the cycle of poverty and provide for
themselves and their families. It is important to recognize and address the root causes of
poverty to help ensure that all children have access to the resources they need to thrive.
