TOPIC: Technology of different ages
BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES: (cognitive, affective and Psychomotor)
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
1. List the 3 different information ages (Middle, Industrial and Electronic ages) and their
features.
3. Identify the tools associated with each of the ages listed above.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:
PC, internet, computer studies text book, and projector.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:
Students are familiar with the computer system and its peripheral devices.
CONTENT:
1. Middle age (feather pen and ink)
2. Industrial age (machine)
3. Electronic age, computer age.
INTRODUCTIION
Information technology has been around for a long time because there were always ways of
communicating through technology available at some point in time. It is important to learn
about how we got to the point we are with technology today.
PRESENTATION: (step by step exposition of the material)
STEP 1: The middle age: In the history of Europe, the Middle Ages or Medieval Period
lasted from the 5th to the 15th century. It began with the fall of the Western Roman Empire
and merged into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery.
the industrial age: The Industrial Age is a period of history that encompasses the changes in
economic and social organization that began around 1760 in Great Britain and later in other
countries, characterized chiefly by the replacement of hand tools with power-driven machines
such as the power loom and the steam engine.
STEP 2:
The electronic age: this period began in1951 with the invention of the electronic calculators,
computers as well as other electronic devices.
The information age: The Information Age (also known as the Computer Age, Digital Age, or
New Media Age) is a historical period that began in the late 20th century, characterized by a
rapid epochal shift from the traditional industry established by the Industrial Revolution to an
economy primarily based upon information technology
CONTEXTUALISATION (of the material of the classroom situation)
The teacher uses the computer system and pictures of tools and machines made during each
information age to describe the topic.
STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT IN THE LESSON
Students are engaged with identifying the different information ages and their features.
REVIEW (by teachers and students of familiar materials):
1. what year did the information age begin?
2. In what age was electricity made largely available?
EVALUATION (in three learning domains…. Cognitive, affective, psychomotor)
QUESTIONS:
1. List and identify the different technology ages?
2. state the features of the industrial age.
3. State the difference between electronic age and information age.
CONCLUSION: Technology is the technical means or method used by people to improve
their lives and environment. The technology ages include: Stone age, Bronze age, Iron age,
Middle age, Industrial age, Electronic age and computer age.
