Our one of structural consultant had asked for the following ( however we may or
may not engage that consultant for structural design work). Please confirm whether
the same is included in the geotech test:-

TYPICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR SOIL INVESTIGATION

SOIL INVESTIGATION SHOULD INCLUDE –

1) 5 bore holes of 15 m. depth each one bore hole of 20 m. depth. If hard rock is met
with min. 1m inside the rock below the foundation level.

2) Undisturbed and disturbed soil samples each to be collected for every 1.5 m depth
or for every change of strata whichever is met earlier.

3) Carrying out SPT or dynamic cone penetration tests as per IS requirement for
each different type of strata met with at interval of 1.5 m or change of strata
whichever is earlier.

4) Carrying out following laboratory tests on soil samples

(a) Grain size analysis

(i) Dry Sieving / Wet analysis
(ii) Hydrometer Analysis
(b) Liquid and Plastic limits
(c) Water Content
(d) Field density
(e) Specific gravityBox shear test
(f) Triaxial compression test
(i) Quick
(ii) Slow
(g) Unconfined compression test
(h) Consolidation test
(i) Chemical analysis of soil
(j) Chemical analysis of water
(k) Rock Quality Designation (RQD) and Core recovery if rock is
encountered.
(l) CBR value for road section design

5) Technical report to give

(a) Results of all field and laboratory tests

(b) Bore log of all bores with RL of the ground at the time of investigation
(c) Recommendations for safe bearing capacity for different types of
foundations such as isolated footings, strip footings, raft, etc.Typical
calculations for safe bearing capacities and recommendation of soil
bearing capacity for each type of foundation to be given. Settlement
calculations to be given. Soil bearing capacities shall be given for depths
at intervals of 0.5m starting from 1.5 m below N.G.L up to 3.0 m. below
NGL. If basement is proposed, soil bearing capacity at bottom of
basement shall also be given.

(d) Values of angle of internal friction for natural conditions and in

submerged condition, if water table exists.
(e) Recommendations for other suitable foundation such as piles, if necessary or
other suitable method to be adopted for foundation - shall be madeReport to
clearly state about possibility of liquifaction of the strata in case of
earthquake.

(f) Depth at which water is encountered during bore-hole operations and possible
max. rise in water table.

One soft copy and two hard copies of the Report shall be submitted
