CONVEX MIRROR
Now to describe the possible image formed by a convex mirror, let us contruct ray diagrams by
following these steps.
1. Construct the mirror and the necessary parts.
2. Place the object at a point in front of the mirror
3. Construct the first light ray such that it emanates from the tip of the object, propagates parallel to the
axis, strikes the mirror, diverges from the mirror as a reflected ray in a direction such that, when
extended backwards, it passes through the focal point. This is r1.
4. Construct the second light ray such that it emanates from the tip of the object and incident normal to the
mirror of the surface. The reflected ray, when traced backward, passes through the center of curvature C.
This is r2.
5. The convergence of the extended line is where the image is formed.
Unlike in the concave mirrors, there are no cases in convex mirrors. In any location in front of the
mirror, the image is upright, reduced, located between A and F, and virtual.

ACTIVITY 1: Draw and identify the nature of the image.Put it in a separate long bondpaper.
1.What will be the nature of the image if the object is at:
a. C
b. between C and F
c. F
