Arboretum Scoring Aid

The game ends when there are no further cards in the draw pile. The player
who drew the last card plays their turn normally, and then scoring occurs.

Gaining the Right to Score Paths

A path is a sequence of cards of increasing value, where the first and last
cards are of the same color. For each color, players reveal all cards in their
hand matching that color. The player who has the highest sum gains
the right to score points for a single path matching that color in their
arboretum. In case of a tie, those players gain the right to score one path of
that color. If all players have no cards of a particular color in their hand, all
players gain the right to score one path of that color.
Exception: If a player has the 8 card of a color in their hand, but an
opponent has the 1 card of the same color in their hand, the the 8’s
worth is reduced to 0 when determining which player has the right
to score paths. The 1 is always worth 1.
Note: It is possible to gain the right to score a color of path that is not
present in your arboretum.

Scoring Paths
Along a path, each card must be greater in value than the one preceding
it. The only cards that must match the color being evaluated are those at
the start and end of the path; the color of the cards in between are only of
importance in determining the value of a path.
Note: A tree may be used in more than one path.
Note: It is legal for paths to be located within one another.

Declaring the Winner

Once the sum of each player’s scored paths is determined, the player with
the most points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the most colors
present in their arboretum is the winner.
Points are scored according to the following rules:
Score 1 point for each card in the path
Score 1 additional point for each card in the path if it is made up of
at least 4 cards and they are all the same color.
Score 1 additional point if the path begins with a 1
Score 2 additional points if the path ends with an 8

8 7 6
6 5
5 4 3 2 1
Scoring Example
The image above shows the Orange path running from the 1 to the 8. It
receives one point for each card in the path. The 1 earns the single bonus
point and the 8 earns the two bonus points. 11 points if you get the right to
score it.
The Purple path of the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 would earn 5 points, if you get the right
to score it.
The Blue path could legally be scored for 4 points using the Orange 5, or
it could be scored for 8 points by using the Blue 3, 4, 5, 6 (all the same suit
and at least 4 cards), if you get the right to score it.
