International Relations Theory
Julian David Mejia Ramirez
Latin America is a continent that has 21 countries on the list that accumulated more than
8 billion dollars in GDP in 2019 that positions us as a continent with competitive
capabilities along with First World countries and communities such as the United States
and the European Union, besides of that we produce 16% of the world agricultural
product and we are pioneers in the incorporation of new world ideals regarding the free
export and import of products that satisfy each nation, however, this is enough to put
Latin America as an emerging continent and possibly in the future as a leading continent
in the world? This in all areas such as cultural, economic, social. Also obtaining the
endorsement of the international community.
Uniting Latin America is a process that implies a plurality of perspectives and wills,
seeking a result, the compilation of benefits that aim at the satisfaction of each of the
countries that wish to participate. Despite them, many benefits could be generated such
as regional growth, elimination of international barriers, management of a single
currency benefiting from the increase in both international and regional exports,
increased lifestyle, unification of ideals, unification of infrastructural developments, etc.
And thinking about it well, it is a strategic idea that has been carried out with different
actions such as “the creation of the OAS that began a new integration process in the
continent, taking firm steps in the creation of economic pacts that have finally become
important political agreements such as MERCOSUR or NAFTA.”[ CITATION Car16 \l
