Introduction-
• A bench saw or table saw has long been used for woodworks and metal works. It can be
used with a variety of blades to achieve various fabrication applications like cutting,
polishing, dust cleaning.

• Table saw’s consist of electric motors that arc used to drive rotating saw blades. The saw
blade is mounted on an arm that can be moved to achieve desired cutting.
• Our system demonstrates the design and fabrication of a bench saw using our mini bench
saw model that uses an electric motor with shaft to mount various blades and achieve
efficient cutting.
• We use an arm with spring mounted pull back system for instant pull back when pressure
is not applied. We design the motor shaft to achieve desired cutting by mounting various
types of blades on machine.
• The machine has a frame heel with a cavity parallel to the blade in order to achieve full
cutting when blade passes through the workpiece.
• The entire system is integrated and fabricated accordingly to achieve required
mechanism.

Literature Review-

operations Management Detroit, Michigan, USA, September 23-25, 2016 IEOM Society
International
2. A table saw machine is a woodworking tool consisting of a circular saw blade, mounted
on an arbor. That is driven by an electric mot or in turn the drive power from motor is
passed to the blade either directly or by belt. The blade protrudes through the surface of
a table top which provides support for the wood being cut. The first record of patent for
that machine was issued in 1777 to an English man, Samuel Miller.
3. In a modern table saw, the depth of the cut is varied by moving the blade up and down:
the higher the blade protrudes above the table, the deeper the cut that is made the
material. In some early table saws, the blade and arbor were fixed, and the table was
moved up and down to expose more or less of the blade. The angle of cut is controlled by
adjusting the angle of blade.

• In this paper, a human powered machine runs on chain drives mainly with human efforts
but if you wanted to operate this machine by electric power this machine can also does
that. It has some special attachment so use both human power as well as electric power.
Problem and Remedies-

1. Main cutter roll runs too tightly and bearing pedestals too hot
• Check the bearing and its lubrication
• Check the roll and Pedestal bearing size

2. Roll lever is not proper

• Tight the Pedestal fixing bolts fitted with the frame

3. While suffering, the wood will tend to jump at its end

• Set the surface of the out feed table level with the cutting edges of the roll

Objective-
To study the design and analysis of mini saw machine.
Methodology-

Components-
• Motor
• Saw Blade
• Shaft
• Pull Back Spring
• Arm
• Bed Frame
• Supporting Frame
• Mounts & Fixtures
Operations-
1. We used a wooden board of approximately 60mm thickness and dimensions 300mm x
200mm
2. Then we took a long wood blocks of less width.
3. On that block we connected the blade and motor assembly.
4. The motor we used is a dc motor of low capacity.
5. The saw blade was connected to the motor shaft by means of spindle.
6. The spindle helps to join the blade with the motor properly without making the blade too
loose or too tight.
7. We used another block which was used to join the base and the long block.
8. The long block was connected with the support block by means of hinges so as to get an
up-down motion of it.
9. The blocks were joined to the base by use of screw and nuts.
10. The up and down movement of blade results in the depth of cut.
11. wooden object to be cut is placed below the blade and the blade is brought near to it for
cutting.

Advantages-
• Easy Installation
• Low maintenance
• Low Cost
• Skilled Operator not required
• Convinces to the operator
• Fast Cutting

Conclusion-
• This setup can be used for working on small objects
• By using this machine we can perform cutting operations quickly.
• The setup is very portable and easy to use.
• It can be used where cutting of small wooden parts is required.
• Thus we can c0nclude that in near future we may see the use of such bench saw in many
small scale industries.
