Essential Question/Assumption: “What is taught is what is learned.

I disagree with this assumption.

Students are taught language in class to study based on the curriculum which the students
and teachers have to finish. The main basic language modules, like grammar, vocabulary,
pronunciation, etc. are provided to them. Indeed, information is taught, but this does not indicate
that people learn it. It all ends if the language taught is acquired or only further information is
provided but passively learned.

The lessons are monitored and an active learning technique is performed to obtain good
results in examinations. This type of learning is highly objective and knowledge gained is lost
every day, when it is not relevant to everyday interactions.

We can see that students who have been learning English passively through movie
viewing can learn more rapidly than pupils who are rigorously learning vocabulary and verbs in
class.

Nevertheless, the lesson is simply another piece of knowledge, which can assist pupils in
better understanding their language. Besides their lessons, kids also have additional reading and
material which might assist them better their learning of a language.
