Rizal Reflection Paper

Students most often think that the Rizal course is an additional burden on their
studies because it is a minor subject. The person who was being examined was already
dead. Students also said that what is the use of the Rizal course where they could not
really use the name Rizal as one of their references when they apply for a job or if they
need assistance, Rizal could back them up... Well, of course! A dead person can do
little about the lives of the living, but the feelings, ideals, desires, values or beliefs he left
can be very influential in the lives of people as a foundation for gaining power in their
everyday lives. And that was where the importance of the issue of Rizal came in.
For all of us Filipinos, Rizal subject is really important, especially to students, not
only because a student can not graduate without taking and passing it in his course, but
because studying his life will really help and teach us a lot of values that we should
possess and live with as part of our country. His very noble life is truly inspiring and
worthy of being imitated, especially by the young people of our time. Therefore, not only
should all of Rizal's opinions, ideals, values and beliefs he shared with us remain part of
our understanding, but it must also be realistic and put into practice as we go along our
path.
The real value of taking the course is not only to research Rizal's life and works,
but how the Filipino people stood up for their country to fight and serve to live in this
country. We must also correct the incorrect values that the Spaniards learned from
them. We should learn from the problems of the past and make it a learning opportunity
for our ancestors.
