Why were the Filipinos deprived of quality education?

2. Was Spain totally remiss of its duty to give the Filipinos good education?

3. How can social issues presented in the Letter and in the film Rizal sa Dapitan can be resolved by
education?

The Spaniards were also the first to build Christian universities in the Philippines The education imparted
to them became a powerful means of implementing Catholicism. Filipinos have grown up believing that
education will advance the life of a person who communicates education has only resulted in human
equality especially among women.

The type of education in the Philippines during the Spanish period was based on the religion of the
Spaniards - Catholicism. The friars were then teachers in Philippine schools.

Only wealthy Filipinos can happen to get a prestigious school, giving more rights and opportunities to
men than to women. Education in the Philippines during the Spanish period was not open to all Filipinos.

The education system was controlled by the friars through other religious arrangements. The
preparation, planning, control and administration of the curriculum program features which are
religious to secularize the colonial education system that is within the use and learning of the friars.

. In this question, some schools were exclusively established for the education of certain Spanish
nationals in the archipelago. They are open only to people belonging to the upper social and economic
class of society.

It’s hard to forget the people who gave so many memories. One of these people was Dr. Jose Rizal. He
brought many good deeds to Philippine society during the time of the Spaniards. One of the many things
that Rizal emphasized was the availability of education. During Rizal's time, he studied at many
universities and also completed various courses including medicine. Rizal also showed the impact of
having education and this is by writing a “Letter to the women of Malolos”. It shows the determination
of Filipina women. Education is a powerful and very important weapon especially during the Spanish
period because you can learn to liberal thinking. Liberal thinking is one of the keys to open the eyes of
Filipinos to the violence of the Spaniards. It is only now that we see the benefits of education for people
who want to learn. I hope that in our society today, education is still very important for everyone. In the
current generation, it is difficult to live without education. This is very important for people looking for
work because if you are really uneducated, you probably won’t have a job that can gave you enough
earnings.

Based on what we have read, studied and learned from Rizal's writings and biography, it can be said that
the national hero of the Philippines has given great importance to the education of every citizen,
especially the Filipino youth, the divine hope of the nation. He repeatedly says in his poems, writings,
and letters that obtaining an education is a very important thing for personal and social development.
His high view of education as a powerful instrument in propagating the cause he began with himself.
Most people say, how can a person be convinced if he does not practice it himself or if he himself is not
able to convince himself? So, we can see in the film about Rizal that he was a great educator and
student. He took various courses to hone his own skills and to be a role model in his own belief that
having an education was the right way to liberate the people who had been insulted by Spain.

Women

Rizal believes that women and men should be equal. Perhaps it was also because he had many sisters
and his great love for his mother, he saw that women could do a lot. In his letter “To the Young Women
of Malolos”, he praised the women of Malolos for their bravery. Women, particularly mothers, have a
great deal to do because they are the first eye opener of their children. So, as Rizal said in his letter, the
eyes of women should also be open because they are the main awakeners of the eyes of their children
to see the truth. Filipino women back then had no voice, usually staying at home and performing the
role of slavery. They enslave the church, knowing only the rosary and novena. Their children would
probably be enslaved by the cruel friars. Rizal wants them to have their own mindset. Rizal compared
Filipino women to European women by giving an example of how Spartan women see themselves.
Spartan mothers are not sad even if their children come home dead as long as the important thing is
that they win the battle. Filipino women should do the same. They must teach their children to live with
dignity and love for the country and they can only do so if they themselves can live with dignity, love for
the country, and are not slaves of the church.

Rizal saw that women also needed to be liberated in a culture that they were submissive to only
because he saw that women could do a lot in liberating the people. It can be said that Rizal's view of
gender is equal between women and men because they both have a big role to play in the country. In
my view, this letter was made so that women can fully understand their importance as the first
influences or shapers of every child born. Rizal wanted women to become aware of the true image of
God, not the image shown to them by the friars. In addition to proper manners, love of country, honor
and loyalty to duty must also be taught.
The Spaniards did not use their language because they do not want the Filipinos to know their language
because they can understand and they will know their purpose.

The youth are the hope of the people, Jose Rizal said, if this is what you meditate on, it is his dream for
the youth to be successful and be part of the development of our country.

In my view, education is a very important part of human life. To live with wisdom, is Jose Rizal's desire
for young people like me, and for future generations. Education will be the key to the success of an
individual and a nation. In general, education, in Rizal's view, is something that every Filipino should
have. With adequate education, it will be easy to achieve development, reforms and change, for
personal and social aspirations.

Education back then was like going through a needle hole. Education was very difficult to achieve at the
time we were occupied by spain.

The author Dr. J

Jose Rizal wrote this not only for the women of Malolos, but also for all the Filipinos. These seven wills
of Rizal that he thinks every Filipina should reflect. This is his way to convey to the women of Malolos
and other Filipinos their purpose, importance and responsibility in our town, their families and our
country.

Most of the women back then were just oppressors and did not fight for the rights they should enjoy.
It's sad to think, many women choose to keep quiet and just sit there with the words they hear. But the
courage shown by the women of Malolos surprised Rizal and immediately admired the courage of the
young women because it was difficult to fight for the rights of people in high positions. So Rizal thought
it could serve as an inspiration to other women

Education in the country was not uniformed, Education was supervised, managed and controled by the
friars, Education was religion-ornted. I was only for the elite class.
For Jose Rizal, Education is a right for everyone regardless of their position in society, rich or poor, just
to say who has the opportunity to get an education. Education can liberate man.

The Spanish conquest of the Philippines was one of the most difficult conquests experienced by the
Filipinos against foreign invaders. Filipinos were made slaves in their homeland and did not taste
comfort from its own natural resources. It is truly unfortunate what the Filipinos went through at the
hands of the Spaniards, depriving them of their rights and freedoms in their homeland. The Spanish
conquest can be said to be a time of tyranny and cruelty.
