A number of customer handbooks are available for the 1830 PSS-36/64.
[1] The Safety Guide provides safety guidelines needed to protect against personal injury and to
prevent material damage to the equipment.
[2] The Product Information and Planning Guide provides a product description, including
features application and network configuration
features, configuration. It describes the tasks which have to be
completed for operation, administration, maintenance and system provisioning. In addition, it
handles administrative and planning aspects, such as system planning and ordering information,
product support, quality and technical specifications.
[3] Procedures for provisioning and operating the 1830 PSS-36/64 using a local craft interface
terminal can be found in the User Provisioning Guide.
[4] Alarm messages and their meanings can be found in the Maintenance and Trouble-clearing
Guide. It also describes p
procedures for routine maintenance,, troubleshooting,

component replacement.
[5] The steps for putting the system into operation are described in the Installation and System

[6] The TL1 Command Guide describes the external TL1 interface in terms of TL1 commands,

The GMRE Command Line Interface Guide describes commands,
commands parameters and syntax of the
commands, which can be submitted from the local interface.
The GMPLS/GMRE Guide provides a description of the features, network configuration and
provisioning of an Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) using GMRE. [8]

supported. [3] Functional components include: several types of I/O interfaces, [4] the Agnostic
matrix that performs ODUK and SDH/SONET switching, [5] the control architecture, [6] the power

The 1830 PSS is composed of several architectures:
