Structural Outline
The building shed of Asahikawa Railway
Station is a steel-frame structure built upon
a reinforced concrete (RC) elevated rail-
way structure. The shed has a total length
of about 180 m, a width of about 60 m and
a maximum height of 26.3 m (Fig. 2).
Because the station is located in Asa-
hikawa City, Hokkaido, a prominent area
of heavy snowfall in Japan, the treatment
