Presente simple (Simple Present)

1. Usamos el presente simple cuando hablamos de cosas que son una verdad general, cosas que a veces
pasan o cosas que suceden todo el tiempo.

Ejemplos:
-I like bananas and apples
-Plaza Valle stores open at 9 o´clock in the morning and close at 12:00 midnight
-My dad works very hard. He starts at 7:30 AM and finishes around 9 or 10 in the evening
-The Earth goes around the Sun
-We do a lot of different things in our free time
-It costs a lot of money to stay at luxury hotels

2. Para la tercera persona del singular (he/she/it), es necesario agregar [s] o [es] al verbo principal.

-Si el verbo termina en –s, --sh, --ch, se agrega [–es].

Ejemplos:
pass = passes
finish = finishes
watch = watches

-Si el verbo termina en –y, se elimina la y y se agrega [--ies].

Ejemplo:
study = studies
try = tries

También:
do se vuelve does
go se vuelve goes

Ejemplos:
I study in a public school. My little sister studies in a private school
My mum lives in Veracruz. My grandparents live in Rio Blanco
It rains a lot in Orizaba

3. En el presente simple se usan las expresiones always/never/often/sometimes/usually. Estas siempre van

entre el sujeto y el verbo.

Ejemplos:
-My dad always drives to work (Nunca My dad drives always…)
-We usually go to Rio Blanco on weekends (Nunca We go usually…)
-I never drink coffee
-My grandma lives near us. We often see her
