17. (i) The LCM of two numbers is 182 and their HCF is 13. If one of the numbers is 26, find the other. 3
(ii) Explain why 3 × 5 × 7 + 7 is a composite number.
(iii) Show that 12n can end with digit 0 or 5 for any natural number n.

18. A teacher asked 10 of his students to write a polynomial in one variable on a paper and then to handover the paper. The 3
following were the answers given by the students:

Answer the following questions:


(i) How many of the above ten, are not polynomials?
(ii) How many of the above ten, are quadratic polynomials?
(iv) List one example each of a linear and cubic polynomial from the given polynomials.

19. Solve for x: 4√ 3 x2 + 5x – 2√ 3=0 using factorisation and quadratic formula methods. 3

20. Determine the ratio in which the line 2x + y – 4 = 0 divides the line segment joining the points A (2, – 2) and B (3, 7). 3

23. (i) State and prove basic proportionality theorem. 5


(ii) In the ∆ABC, D and E are points on side AB and AC respectively such that DE II BC. If AE = 2cm, AD =
3cm and BD = 4.5cm, then find CE.

24. (i) Find the 12th term from the end of the AP: –2, –4, –6,..., –100. 5
(ii) Which term of the AP: –2, –7, –12,... will be –77?
(iii) If the 9th term of an AP is zero, prove that its 29th term is twice its 19th term.
(iv) The sum of the 5th and the 7th terms of an AP is 52 and the 10th term is 46. Find the AP.
