Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S.
needs blood.
Approximately 36,000 units of red
blood cells are needed every day.
Only 7% of people in the U.S. have the
universal blood type, O negative.
A single car accident victim can re-
quire as many as 100 units of blood.
Less than 38% of the population is
eligible to give blood.

Whole Blood Donation 1. Registration & Eligibility
“Whole blood” is the blood that flows
through veins. It contains red cells, white
cells, and platelets, suspended in plasma. 2. Provide Health History

AB Elite Plasma Donation
Type AB Blood plasma can be given to all
patients. Blood is drawn from one arm
and sent through a cell separator which
collects plasma and then and returns
your red cells and platelets back to you,
along with saline.
