INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

What should you do in each of these situations?
1. Your boss has asked you to make one member of your department
redundant. The choice is between the most popular team member, who is the
worst at his job, or the best worker, who is the least popular with the other
team members. Who do you choose?

The decision that I would make is to leave my team at least popular but who is a
good worker, because I cannot choose a person who is only popular and does not
provide any kind of contribution to the company. A person who is efficient in his work
deserves all the credit and having the availability to make him participate in activities
that make other employees know him better, I would make that decision without
hesitation, in order to better integrate him into the work team.

2 The best-qualified person for the post of Sales Manager is female. However,
you know most of your customers would prefer a man. I f you appoint a
woman, you will probably lose some sales.

My decision in this case, will be to appoint the qualified person for the sales
management position, either male or female, because this only brings benefits for
the company in the long term, and the customers that we will lose due to this decision
will be recovered with sales strategies.
The most important thing about my decision is that having a qualified person makes
fewer mistakes, increases the productivity of the company and solves problems
better and faster.

3. You work for a travel company which is in serious financial difficulties and
will go bankrupt in the near future. Your boss has ordered you to continue to
accept deposits and payments from customers until the company officially
stops trading. You fear that these people may lose their money or may be left
abroad when the company collapses.

After evaluating our situation as a company, I would accept customer deposits to the
extent that our capacity as a company allows it, but if later I see that the financial
situation of the company is in decline, I would take the option of talking with my boss
and Somehow recommend another travel company to our clients because it would
be very dishonest to deceive them and promise a service that we will not be able to
provide.
4.Your company has a new advertising campaign which stresses its honesty,
fairness and ethical business behaviour. It has factories in several countries
where wages are very low. At present, it is paying workers the local market
rate.

In this case, a new way of valuing wages must be developed according to an


objective reality and also according to what the company has as values: fairness,
honesty, companies must change their way of seeing things and not think about
reducing Costs and expenses also has to do with paying your employees little.
Companies must provide excellent conditions for their employees, because it is a
good investment to have employees motivated, enthusiastic and valued.
The human being is the key to the success of the company, by evaluating it, better
results are obtained.
