aTo obtain the momentary withstand current value in rms asymmetrical amperes, multiply the short-time
withstand current rating by 1.33 for bus rated up to 0.635 kV ac and by 1.55 for bus rated above 0.635 kV
ac. To obtain the peak momentary withstand current value, multiply the short-time withstand current rating
by 2.3 for bus rated up to 0.635 kV ac and by 2.6 for bus rated higher than 0.635 kV ac. To obtain the peak
momentary withstand current value for dc bus, multiply the short-time withstand current by 1.65. The mul-
tiplying factors (2.6 and 1.55) for bus duct rated higher than 0.635 kV ac are in accordance with the intro-
duction of ANSI C37.06-2000 [B3].9 The multiplying factors (2.3 and 1.33) for bus rated up to 0.635 kV
ac are in accordance with Note 5 of 5.4.4 of IEEE Std C37.20.1-2002 [B14]. The multiplying factor (1.65)
for dc bus is in accordance with 5.5 of IEEE Std C37.14 -2002 [B13], and 6.2.4.1.1 of IEEE Std C37.20.1-
2002 [B14].
