INTRODUCTION TO REP MODULE

Reproductive system Module will provide you by the essential knowledge of basic concepts in
human development starting from the production of gametes, establishment of the embryo up to
independent life of the newborn infant. Also it provide you by the basic information about the
anatomical histological and physiological functioning of male and female reproductive tract with
consideration of disorders of the male & female reproductive tract and develop the independent
ability diagnose abnormalities in the reproductive system.

The objectives of the curriculum can be described under the four main areas of knowledge and
understanding, intellectual, practical and transferrable skills that the students should acquire by
the end of this course. The module will be delivered by online lectures, tutorial and practical
sessions. Self- directed learning sessions will be hold for improving the skills for self- learning.

Weekly feedback will be given on the model. Online formative assessment sessions will be used
during the module to help students test their own knowledge every week. Students will be
assessed by means of short essays, MCQs, and OSPE examinations.
This study guide gives details of the abovementioned items. Students should enjoy free
communication with all instructors through the indicated staff contact data. Reference textbooks
are indicated in this study guide, however students are encouraged to utilize the World Wide
Web for further information and studies. Some of the useful web sites are also indicated.
On behalf of the faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, we would like to welcome you all
to the course and best wishes.

Assessment

For this module students will receive both formative and summative
assessments.

1. Formative

Formative assessment provides feedback on student's learning during the

module.
During the module, some questions will be given to the students to answer.
Answers will be tackled with the supervisor during the feedback session in the
beginning of each week. This form of assessment is designed to give you
feedback to help you identify areas for improvement. It may include any
combination MCQs, short answer-questions (SAQs), and problem-solving
exercises.

2. Summative

This type of assessment is used for judgment or decisions to be made about

your performance. It includes the continuous assessment and the final exams.
In this module your performance will be assessed according to the
following:
1. SDL: 15 Marks
2. Continuous assessment 60 Marks
3. Practical exam (OSPE) 60 Marks
