A. INTRODUCTION
A diesel engine's job is to transform diesel into motion so that the vehicle
may move. The most common method of generating motion from diesel is to
meaning that combustion takes place inside the engine. This lesson will teach
you how to diagnose diesel engine problems and how to tune them properly.
You'll be doing exercises to improve your ability to set and install an injection
and do compression testing. You'll also go over fundamentals like lubricants and
checklist, and positive work values like honesty, perseverance and attention to
details.
B. KNOWLEDGE / LEARNING ACQUIRED
Upon completion of this module I shall be able to set up and connect the
injection pump to the engine, examine the injection time, components of a bleed
injection system and carry out compression tests. All standards of performance for
doing diesel engine tune-ups are in line with business standard operating
procedures and manufacturer's specification manuals, and are performed with the
tools and equipment indicated. A tune up can help your car save money on gas.
C. OBSERVATION
maintenance and inspection are not conducted on it. An engine that has been fine-
tuned performs at its best. Engine components that impact performance are
examined and changed during a tune-up. Spark plugs ignite the gasoline/air
huge amount of voltage and heat, which they must be able to resist. Your engine
may slow if the spark plugs aren't operating correctly, and it may even fail to start.
The spark plug wires are also crucial. They must be capable of transferring and
enduring the voltage generated by the spark plug. They can burn out and cause a
Despite the fact that diesel engines do not require ignition tune-ups and
tend to run longer without major problems than gasoline engines, they do require
regular low-cost maintenance, mostly in the form of frequent oil and filter
changes. If you perform the same thing with a diesel engine, you could wind up
with a prematurely dead engine. When it comes to most diesel vehicles, the
comes first. However, this service interval can differ quite significantly depending
on the make and model of your car, as well as how much you drive.
