Circular

As per U.O. No. 534/2021/KTU dated 23-03-2021 (attached herewith), University permitted one
more chance, as a special case, to those students who completed the B.Tech course, but
couldn't obtain B.Tech Degree, due to the failure in Comprehensive Examination alone, to
appear for the Oral Examination part of the Comprehensive Examination. This special chance is
applicable to the 2015 and 2016 batch B.Tech (Regular & Part time) students only.

In continuation to this, following procedure may be followed by College authorities in conducting


exam for oral part of the Comprehensive examination as per above order:

If a student in above category approaches college authority to conduct the oral part of the
Comprehensive examination, a written request to conduct exam may be obtained from the student.
College should ensure that student has passed all courses (subjects) in B.Tech curriculum for the
student including laboratory / Project / audit courses (if any) etc. except Comprehensive
examination.
College shall conduct the exam for the eligible student and obtained mark shall be forwarded to
University.

University will not issue separate notifications for the conduct of oral part of Comprehensive
examination as per above mentioned order.

APJAKTU - Academic - Special chance to attend Oral part of B.Tech Comprehensive Examination
- Students who have otherwise completed the programme except for failure in S6 Comprehensive
Examination - Sanctioned - Orders issued.

ORDER

Vide Circular read as first paper, additional guidelines were issued for Comprehensive
Examinations wherein a student who appeared for both oral ad written examinations of B.Tech S-6
Comprehensive examination could appear only for the written examination to get pass grade. Also
2015 Admission B.Tech students in 'F' grade were allowed to re-appear for Oral and written part of
Comprehensive examination in the next chance.

Considering requests from students who remain failed even after re-appearance in
Comprehensive examination, to permit them to appear again for Oral examination part of
Comprehensive examination, the matter was placed before the tenth Academic Council. Based on
the resolution of the Academic council, University order read as second above was issued.
Accordingly permission was granted to all the failed students of B.Tech (Regular) 2015 and B.Tech
(Part Time) 2016 Regulations to reappear for Oral part of S6 Comprehensive examination. The
students of B.Tech (Regular / PT) 2016 to 2018 admissions shall be eligible for re-appearance and
a student will get only one chance to re-appear for the Oral part of the Comprehensive
Examination.

Vide paper read as third above, request was received from two students of Government
Engineering College, Wayanad for one more chance to attend the Oral examination part of the
Comprehensive examination. The students of 2015-19 batch have passed all courses of B.Tech
except Comprehensive examination. In spite of appearing for several chances, the students were
not able to pass the Comprehensive examination, due to lower marks in the oral part.

Considering all the above circumstances, sanction has been accorded by the Vice Chancellor by
invoking the provisions envisaged in Chapter III 14(5) of the ACT to permit one more chance, as
a special case, to those students who completed the B.Tech course, but cannot obtain
B.Tech Degree, due to the failure in Comprehensive Examination alone, to appear for the
Oral Examination part of the Comprehensive Examination. This special chance is
applicable to the 2015 and 2016 batch B.Tech (Regular & Part time) students only.

Circular read as (1) and University Order read as (2) stands modified to the above extent. Orders
are issued accordingly.
