Classroom Decoration

This course focuses on the principles and practice of classroom decoration

which makes the environment welcoming, stimulating and captivating and
also fosters retention of information, facts and ideas.
Since a pupil’s/student’s learning experience is impacted by the classroom
design around them, it is important and appropriate to ensure the classroom
is well decorated in order to appeal to their aesthetic colouration and make
the class highly engaging and also promote collaboration among learners. A
well decorated class considers the following: classroom lighting, colour of the
room, air quality, layout and the quality of materials. At the end of the course,
teachers will be able to creatively and innovatively decorate their classes to
become more comfortable, attractive and adaptable to the changing needs of
learners.

Jolly Phonics
A great percentage of teachers do not know and understand the appropriate
instructional strategies, skills, methods and materials needed in teaching kids
about Jolly Phonics since it is a fun and child centred approach to teaching
literacy through synthetic phonics. Children will able to read and write from
an early age and will be motivated to learn, if they are properly taught by
competent Jolly Phonics teachers. During this course, our teachers will focus
more on teaching the 42 letter sounds instead of the alphabets using proven,
fun, and multi-sensory synthetic phonics methods.
The teachers will also be exposed to the five skills that children need to master
phonics: learning the letter sounds, letter formation, Blending, Segmenting
and Tricky words.

Phonemic Awareness
It’s one thing to be able to learn the 42 letter sounds, it’s another thing to be
able to develop the ability to identify and manipulate individual sounds
referred to as Phonemes in spoken words. Kids will develop skills in
phonological awareness and be able to recognise and work with sounds of
spoken language if they are well taught by teachers who understand the
principles and practice of phonics. Teachers will be armed with the
knowledge, skills and competence needed to be aware of phonemes and
communicate it effectively to the learners.
E-Learning Master Class
E-learning has become critical and indispensable owing to our ever changing
world where physical learning is affected by different factors beyond man’s
circle of control. Many educational institutions have fully deployed
technologies, techniques and gadgets that aid their pupils/students to learn
online while pursuing the achievement of educational/instructional goals and
objectives. This Master class/course will expose teachers to the different
effective ways and strategies of deploying E-learning to achieve the objectives
of the lesson since it will enable them to share material in all kinds of
formats such as videos, slideshows, word documents, and PDFs, conducting
webinars (live online classes) and communicate with their pupils/students
and even parents.

Strategic School Marketing Master Class

implementation will remain in obscurity because it is the live wire that
grows and sustains the organisation to a great extent. A good marketing
plan incorporates the objectives, metrics and steps that the school will
take or implement to achieve organisational goals on the short and long
term basis. This Master class will enable your school make accelerated
and astronomical growth and will give your marketing team
concentrated focus and direction thus helping management to make and
take informed decision on the areas to invest time, resources (human,
material and financial) and energy. Management will also know the
SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis and
how handle each of them at every stage of the growth process of the
school.

Cinema Time: Movie and Review Show

At TOPHAS, we believe that all-round Education plays a critical and pivotal
role in bringing about positive individual transformation of the mind and
social change through audio-visual learning (movies). We also believe that
teachers perform at their peak when time is created for them to recuperate
and relax their nerves before taking up more herculean task. Through
educational movies, the creative minds, thought patterns and perceptions of
teachers are stimulated, re-energized and properly directed, that’s why we
deemed it necessary to incorporate Cinema Time for them to relieve stress,
elongate their life span and promote healthy living. Their social/soft skills
and awareness are also enhanced and developed while creative reviews are
done at the end of the movies.
Psychology of Learning and Effective Classroom
Communication
This all-important course takes the teachers on a wonderful journey into the
world of mastery and better understanding on how kids learn and why they
learn the way they do. If there’s no change in behaviour, learning hasn’t taken
place as psychologists vividly stated that learning is a relatively permanent
change in behaviour as a result of experience and constant practice. The
psychology of learning course focuses on a wide range of topics related to
how people (especially kids) learn and interact with their environments. Some
of the theories/major learning issues it will focus on include:
behaviourism, classical, and operant conditioning. The teachers will also be
taught the different strategies on how to effectively manage the classroom and
the resources entrusted in their care in order to ensure that instructional goals
and objectives are achieved.
The teaching and learning process becomes effective when teachers
understand the psychology of learning and classroom management and how
to identify and teach the fast, middle and slow learners, and make them to
perform well and excel at their different pace and levels.

Nelson Handwriting
Developing good handwriting and writing skills is as essential as developing
good listening, speaking and reading skills. When a child writes legibly and
efficiently, it gladdens the heart of the teacher, the child, the parents and
anyone who comes in contact with the child. One of the best handwriting a
child can learn and utilize in his/her academic journey is the Nelson’s
Handwriting. Nelson handwriting is a consistent whole-school handwriting
that introduces cursive handwriting in step-by-step stages in line with the
latest UK curricula. Teachers will be taught the step-by-step process of writing
in cursive starting with alphabet formation and joining of the different letters
since the handwriting is designed to help children and teachers develop a
confident, legible and personal handwriting style and meet higher curriculum
expectations.
Effective Care-giving
The task of care-giving in schools is a very important and sensitive job due to
the age of the people the care is been given to. During the course, teachers will
be taught on how to give appropriate care to kids in their custody and control;
treat them with love and respect, encourage right behaviour, and correct
wrongful actions. Teachers will be exposed with the rudiments, processes and
principles of care-giving and will be charged with the responsibility of
transmitting values into the kids through warm, caring and healthy
relationships. These caring relationships will foster both the desire to learn
and the desire to be a good person.

Work ethics, attitudes and high productivity

There is significant relationship that exists between employee work ethics and
attitudes as far as productivity of any organisation is concerned. Research has
shown that most Nigerian graduates are unemployable and/or lack work
ethics and attitudes that are needed for them to be efficient and productive at
work and this has been a major concern for employers of labour. This course
will expose teachers to the different work ethics/traits such as: appearance,
attendance, attitude, character, communication, cooperation, organizational
skills, productivity, respect and teamwork.
Without doubt, employees with excellent work ethic are often considered by
employers for opportunities for special projects because they’re reliable, dedicated
and disciplined and they advance more in their career than other employees who
lack work ethics and attitudes.
