DTC B0103/12 Short in D Squib Circuit (to B+)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The D squib circuit consists of the airbag sensor assembly, spiral cable and steering wheel pad.
It causes the SRS to deploy when the SRS deployment conditions are satisfied.
DTC B0103/12 is recorded when a B+ short is detected in the D squib circuit.

CIRCUIT INSPECTION
1 CHECK D SQUIB CIRCUIT

(a) Disconnect negative (−) terminal cable from the battery,

and wait at least for 90 seconds.
D Squib
(b) Disconnect the connector between the airbag sensor as-
Spiral Airbag sembly and the steering wheel pad.
Cable Sensor (c) Connect negative (−) terminal cable to the battery, and
Assembly turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) For the connector (on the spiral cable side) between the
spiral cable and the steering wheel pad, measure the volt-
D− age between D+ and body ground.
D+ OK:
Voltage: Below 1 V

2 CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSYCENTER

(a) Disconnect negative (−) terminal cable from the battery,

and wait at least for 90 seconds.
D Squib (b) Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.

Spiral (c) Using a service wire, connect D+ and D− of the connector

Cable (on the spiral cable side) between the spiral cable and the

steering wheel pad.
(d) Connect negative (−) terminal cable to the battery, and
D− wait at least for 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 20 se-
conds.
(f) Clear the DTC stored in memory (See step 5 on page
05−651).
DTC B0103/12 (g) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 20

seconds.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 60 se-
conds.

3 CHECK D SQUIB

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect negative (−) terminal cable from the battery,
D Squib and wait at least for 90 seconds.
Spiral Airbag (c) Connect the steering wheel pad connector.
Cable Sensor (d) Connect negative (−) terminal cable to the battery, and wit
Assembly at least for 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 20 se-
conds.
(f) Clear the DTC stored in memory (See step 5 on page
DLC3 DTC B0103/12 05−651).
(g) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 20
seconds.
CG (h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 60 se-

5 CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

D Squib (b) Disconnect the connectors of the instrument panel wire
