Madelein Rabbit
By Francis Sinke
Translation: Elly Lijster
Abbreviations:
- mag.ring = magic ring
- sc = single crochet
- sl.st = slip stitch
- tog. = crochet together
- dc = double crochet
- ** = repeat what is in between
Stuff the head, cut the yarn, and leave enough to close the circle. Weave the yarn through the
last 12 st and close the circle. F/O.
If you don’t use eyes with a hole at the end:
Insert a needle with thread at round 15 in the neck, right up to the back of the eye. Insert the
needle a bit higher (still behind the eye) at the inside to the other eye. Then, still at the back of
the eye, back down again. Pull the yarn carefully so the eyes lie deeper. Make a firm knot and
try to save some yarn to sew to the body later.
Embroider a nose.
Flatten the ear and close it with 7 sc. Fold and sew the bottom. Leave a yarn and sew the ears
between round 17-19 at the head with 6 sc in between.
1. ch 2 in the first st, 1 dc in each st, close with a sl.st in the first dc
2. ch 3 + 1 dc in the first dc, then *1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc * in each dc, close with a sl.st in the
first bow
3. ch 3 + 1 dc in the first bow , then *1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc * in each bow, close with a sl.st in
the first bow.
4. Repeat round 3
5. ch 4 + 1 dc in the first bow, then *1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc* in each bow, close with a sl.st in the
first bow.
6. Repeat round 5
7. Change color to mixed pink; *3 sc in the bow, 1 sc between the 2 dc. F/O.
Stuff the hand and forearm a little bit, don’t stuff the upper arm. Flatten and sew the arm*. Sew
it at round 30 of the body.
(*I sew (instead of crochet) because the round shape of the puff sleeve remains nicer)
Crochet some more st, so the leg can be flattened, pay attention to the feet. Stuff the lower leg
(don’t stuff the upper leg) and close the leg with 6 sc.
For the:
Neck: ch 22
Waist: ch 50
Glue or sew around the neck/waist
(The number of chains may be vary depending the way of stuff and/or crocheting, check this!)
