COVID-19

PLAN
CHAPTER I: BACKGROUND
The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been declared a Public Health
Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) and the virus has now spread to many countries and
territories. While a lot is still unknown about the virus that causes COVID-19, we do know that it
is transmitted through direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person (generated
through coughing and sneezing). Individuals can also be infected from touching surfaces
contaminated with the virus and touching their face (e.g., eyes, nose, mouth). While COVID-19
continues to spread it is important that communities take action to prevent further transmission,
reduce the impacts of the outbreak and support control measures (Ministry of General
Education, 2020).

HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

Cebulano Elementary School is located in a rural area which means that there’s a lower chance
of Covid19 contamination but if there is, then the DRRM Team together with the teachers will
immediately take actions to protect the constituents and stakeholders.

HAZARD TO PLAN FOR

There is a need to make a contingency plan for Covid19 to;

 Reflect upon and prepare for various emergency scenarios.

 Provide an opportunity to identify constraints and focus on operational issues prior to the
on-set of a crisis.
 Enables stakeholders to establish working relationships that can make a critical difference
during a crisis.
SCENARIO
A person who travelled from Manila arrived and has quarantine for 14 days found out
carrying Corona Virus. After her release she has been confined but noted by the LGU that she
stayed overnight with her relative. Although the Municipal Health Office and Barangay Officials
take appropriate action to isolate contacts to the family, the local community took initiative to
control the spread of virus.

The school as part of the community made a plan to secure school premises, pupils and
staff not to be contaminated by this virus. Thus, virtual meeting and on-site inspection
recommended to make contingency plan for preparedness in this pandemic.
CHAPTER II: GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

Cebulano Elementary School as sited in a rural area is not prone for contamination unless there
are who relatives visited in the area. Through this effort the school shall;

1. Protect the constituents and stakeholders from the deadly virus by mass education on
Covid19.
2. Secure the school premises to control the spread or illuminate the virus.

OBJECTIVES

To achieve this goal of protection against the deadly virus must;

1. Educate the stakeholders on Covid19 and its effect to the damages of human body
through social networks, mass media and bulletins
2. Campaign for Health Organization’s call to follow instruction and regulation standards and
adopt New Normal as a way of life.
3. Secure the school premises by hand sanitizing and foot bathing in going in and out of
school campus.
4. Set standard protocol in reviewing and requesting of documents in school.
5. Create tracking scheme for tracing.

Response Plan

Cebulano Elementary School staff and stakeholders have initiated works towards putting up
measures to ensure the continuity of learning. At this point in time where schools are closed,
there should be solid plans to support continuous educational activities (Ministry of General
Education, 2020), such as modular learning that will help students in learning continuously amidst
the pandemic.
The Key Intervention during Response Phase
 Organizing hygiene and personal protective equipment required to all teachers and
parents.
 Disinfecting and Sanitizing facilities and equipment on an ongoing basis.

School Recovery Plan

The Cebulano Elementary School identifies programs and activities in preparation to the new
normal and during transition phase for post COVID-19 scenario. It is when schools resume, there
will be a critical phase in which on how to return to normalcy will be dependent on the school
interventions laid down at the recovery phase.

The key Interventions for Early Recovery Phase

 Spread information about proper hygiene and respiratory etiquette through
signage and posters.

 Set standard protocols in coming to school

 Establishing of sanitary facilities in school.
 Observe social distancing
