Getting Started: Quarantine and Pre-Arrival Checklist

Please use this check list to prepare for your travels and mandatory quarantine in Canada.

☐ Attend the Housing and Quarantine Workshop. Register for the workshop.

☐ Review the quarantine information and supports on the International Student Virtual Community.

• Watch the videos about how to quarantine


• Read information on how to quarantine, how to social distance, how to wear a mask etc.
• Read the Navigating Canada during Covid-19 Guide.

☐ Make the necessary arrangements for your 14-day quarantine

• Secure some where to stay during your quarantine housing. A list of hotels that have been arranged
by Sheridan and by Languages Canada is available on the International Student Virtual Community.
• Make arrangements for meals during quarantine. Information about grocery, and meal delivery
services is available on the International Student Virtual Community.
• Make arrangements for direct transportation from the airport to your place of quarantine.
Remember, it is best to avoid buses and trains. A list of transportation options is available on the
International Student Virtual Community.

☐ Download the ArriveCAN app to avoid lineups and reduce points-of-contact at the border.
Travellers must provide basic, mandatory information to CBSA and must do so using this app within a 48-
hour window before arriving in Canada.

☐ Complete and Submit Sheridan’s Quarantine Plan Form.


Once you complete the form, you will receive a copy of your completed form in your Sheridan email box.
You should take a copy of this form with you on your trip.

☐ Gather your travel/immigration documents.


Please note that entry to Canada is based on essential travel and is at the discretion of CBSA Agent
upon arrival at the airport. Don’t forget to pack the following in your Carry-on:

• Passport
• Study Permit (for returning students)
• Letter of Introduction (for new students)
• Enrollment Letter or Letter of Acceptance
• Proof of Finances, Fee Invoice and Fee Payment Receipt
• Travel Letter from Sheridan
• All documents that were required for your Study Permit application.
• A copy of your quarantine plan (Remember if your complete Sheridan’s Quarantine Plan Form
you will receive a copy in your Sheridan email account).

☐ Pack a thermometer and enough supply of PPE (personal protective equipment) for 2 weeks.
Make sure you bring enough masks, gloves and sanitizer for at least the 2-week period. After 2 weeks,
additional PPE can be purchased here.

☐ Ensure you have valid health insurance coverage in Canada!


Health insurance is included in tuition fees, and CBSA agents may ask students to demonstrate proof of
health insurance coverage during their study period. Student policies are valid from September 1, 2020 –
August 31, 2021. If you will be arriving prior to September, we strongly encourage you purchase pre-
arrival health insurance from Guard.Me, and you can receive coverage up to 4 weeks in advance until
the start of your program.

Please remember that quarantine is a mandatory requirement of the Quarantine Act and not optional.
