Introduction:
In Tibet, there are many famous high mountains, which constitute the basic skeleton of the
plateau topography and are also the center of the ancient and modern glaciers. The peaks of
mountains with an altitude above 5000 meters, are perennially covered with snow. Glaciers have
develop widely among the mountains after decades. The mountain ranges of Tibet can be divided
into two types, east-west and south-north mountain ranges. The mountain ranges are mainly
spread in arc, trending apart in middle and close in both ends, which form Pamir plateau
mountains at west and mountains at east.
There are many famous mountains on the Tibet Plateau, featuring high altitude and large
coverage. Tibet mountains can be classified as

Flora found in Tibetan mountains:
The great range of snow mountains comparable to
the Himalaya, and running approximately northwest to south-east, divides this part of Tibet into
two.
South of this range, in Zayul, the mountains are well
wooded with deciduous and evergreen forest. Oaks,
maples, birch, hornbeam, magnolias, !lex and
Rhododendron species abound. Higher up there is
conifer forest. North of the range, in Nagong, there
is no forest and almost the only tree, found in a few
favoured localities, is Picea lichiangensis. There is a
number of shrubs, especially species of Lonicera,
Berberis, Spirrea, Rosa, Clematis and Cotoneaster;
but chiefly the mountains are covered with a great
variety of herbaceous plants. Thus the snow range
acts as a rain screen. Amongst the most prominent
alpine genera are Gentiana, Primula, Dracocephalum,
Crernanthodium, Anemone and Androsace
