LESSON B WHO WAS THAT PERSON?

1. DISCUSS THE QUESTIONS WITH A PARTNER.

Who was Rosa Parks? • Where did she live? • Why is she famous for?

2. READ THE PARAGRAPH AND CHECK YOUR ANSWERS.

Rosa Parks was an African American woman. She was

born on February 4, 1913. Rosa Parks lived in
Montgomery, Alabama. She was a civil right leader
during the segregation. At that time, African Americans
were not happy because white people discriminated
them.

On December 1, 1955, a white man boarded the bus, the

bus driver asked Rosa Parks to stand up, but she
refused. The bus driver stopped and called the police,
so they arrested Rosa.

This act started the Montgomery bus boycott. This

boycott continued for 381 days. Finally, the U.S.
Supreme Court considered the segregation
unconstitutional.

She died on October 24, 2005 in Detroit, Michigan.
