Proposal Letter:

08 MAY 2021
Plastic Waste
Collection Point Juan Dela Cruz
Secretary of Homeowners Association
ABC Subdivision
ㅡ Manila

Dear Ma’am Silva,

I am a homeowner of ABC Subdivision, currently residing in Phase 1. I

am writing this letter to you to propose an advocacy that circulates
around collecting plastic waste within our subdivision and becoming a
collection point by partnering with an organization, namely, The Plaf,
which is geared towards turning plastic waste into recyclable plastic
planks that will then be made into emergency shelters for Filipinos
displaced by the many natural disasters that plague the region. I am not
in any way affiliated with the said organization.

The Plastic Flamingo (The Plaf) is a social company based in Manila that
aims to tackle marine plastic pollution by collecting, recycling, and
transforming plastic waste into eco-lumbers before it reaches the
oceans.

Plastic waste is one of many types of wastes that takes too long to
decompose. Normally, plastic items can take up to 1000 years to
decompose in landfills. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in
the ocean. 1 truckload of waste is dumped into the ocean every minute.
8 million tons of plastic are dumped every day. On average in the
world, the plastic waste generation per person is 6 kg per month. And
what can we do? I believe that a world without oceanic waste is
possible with collective effort. Citta Italia can be a collection point
where homeowners can drop off their plastic waste. I have
communicated with The Plaf regarding the details in becoming one.
Below is the mechanics of how it works:

1) The Plaf will send a MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) to be

signed by both parties.
2) The Plaf will deliver jumbo bags (2-10) or Plaf' bins (2-3) to be
able to start collecting plastic from any individual interested to
drop off their plastic at our hub. An initial payment for
Php1000 is needed for the acquisition of the bags/bins (Php
1000 inclusive of your preferred number of bags/bins) .
Pictures are attached below for reference.
3) We (Citta Italia) will also receive a marketing kit that will allow
us to communicate externally about the partnership and
internally about the instructions, the process, the collection etc.
4) Once the bins or jumbo bags are full, we can contact the Plaf
to collect it or we could simply book a courier to deliver the
bags to their warehouse located in Putatan, Muntinlupa.

The cost of picking up the plastic is:

Php 500.00 for 1 jumbo bag/Plaf bin
Php 800.00 for 2 jumbo bags/Plaf bins
Php 1,000.00 for 3 jumbo bags/Plaf bins
Php 1,500.00 for 4 jumbo Bags/Plaf bins

The cost of booking a courier Php140- Php1000. (Varies on

what type of vehicle)

5) The Plaf will transport the plastic waste to their warehouse

with their own vehicles (if pickup service).
6) The Plaf will segregate and condition the HDPE, LDPE, and PP
plastics and transform them into eco-planks.
7) The Plaf will produce emergency shelters, piles, and pontoons.
For inquiries or more information, I would be glad to provide you with a
more detailed presentation deck.

Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal. ABC Subdivision in
partnership with The Plaf could create a sustainable environment for
us, and for the future generations to come. With collective effort, this is
attainable. I am sincerely looking forward to a positive response and I
would highly appreciate it if you could give comments on how I could
improve the idea to lean towards the approval for this advocacy.

Sincerely,
