STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

"Working hard is important but there is something that matters even more: BELIEVING IN
YOURSELF ". When I first read this quote I realized that I have always been dependent on what
others say without and never believed believing in myself. As my father is an Electrical
contractor I let him decide which stream I should choose for my future. My father decided that I
should take electronics and communication as it will also help in our business. Then I chose
electronics and communication because his approval means a lot to me and his opinion has
certainly influenced the direction of my career. But I finally realized that I should proceed in the
direction in which I want to go and that I must pursue my own path.

Undoubtedly master in computer science is the right career option for me. My short-term goal is
to gain expertise in <please mention subjects>. In next 5 years, I would like to become a
<please mention position>engineer and work on developing strategic solutions for global
challenges in the industry and contribute towards my country’s growth. I am aware that such a
goal requires confidence, global exposure and advanced knowledge and thus seek a Master’s
degree which I believe will allow me to gain all the these and set me on a path towards my
desired career.

Ever since In my childhood I have detected in myself a certain kind of compassion and innate
desire to study Computer Science. When I was 6 years old my father brought home a fourth
generation computer that was the first computer which I started using but during that time I was
very young and I didn't knew how to use it properly . After this fifth generation computers were
introduced like the computers which we use nowadays .At the age of When I was 10 we bought
a computer with a Pentium 2 processor which used the ULSI (ultra large scale integration)
technology . I was totally astonished with the design and speed of that PC and I started installing
different kinds of software on my PC. At that point of time I used to gain knowledge about
computers from my elder brother who was learning computer based software's such as Flash.
Then I insisted my brother to teach me how to create a small movie in Flash . It took me a few
days to learn as I was new to computers then I started creating small movies in flash for only
about 25 seconds of duration but I was not really good at it, but I always believed that many a
little makes a mickle. Each and every day my interest for computers kept on increasing which
made me keen to explore the depths of computers.

My performance during school life was consistently well as I was three times golden batch
holder during my middle school, my teachers appreciated my determination and hard work. I
scored 78 percent in 10th standard & I also received a certificate and prize money from CBSE
for scoring 85 out of 100 in Hindi language test (10th standard). I even also received an award in
my 12th farewell for being the most disciplined student. After passing my 10th standard, I
decided to choose science as my major field because I wanted to pursue bachelors in engineering
after clearing my 12th. I always had an affinity towards physics & math . mathematics. This
affinity towards physics and math was reflected in my 12th result as I scored 70 out of 100 in
math & 73 out of 100 in physics with an overall percentage of 66.

While pursuing my B. tech degree course from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute Of Technology
affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha university and after seeing my result I felt quite
ecstatic to see that I have scored good results particularly in Auto cad CAD and Web Designing
with a score of 73 , Introduction to programming with a score of 71 , C Programming lab with a
score of 78 , object oriented using C++ lab with a score of 73 , Database management system
with a score of 65 and Database management system lab with a score of 75 and this perhaps
bolstered and motivated me to pick up Computer Science as my major stream of specialization
and I am quite confident that I will touch new heights in my future career.

While pursuing my course I was given an opportunity to pick up one topic to perform my minor
practical. So I selected 'solar Glove Charger' which contains solar cells which are capable enough
to charge mobile phones , so . it It was really appreciated by my professor as it produced the
result and was quite successful in accomplishing a score of 83 out of 100. I also made a project
based on microcontroller . The name of the project is ' Traffic Light Control System' which is
used to control the traffic density by making the lights green on a busy road. The project uses
simple electronic components such as LED as Traffic Light indicator and a microcontroller for
auto change of signal after a pre-specified time interval . I have also worked on a project named
'Bluetooth Theft Avoidance Alarm (BTAA)'. which was made I made it by keeping in mind that
as soon as the link between the Smartphone and the owner is broken, the application notifies the
mobile as well as the owner wearing the BTAA gadget with a buzzer sound. Application also
targets to avoid theft of mobile by setting up alarms just after the link is disconnected and also
sends emergency message to the hero number added by the user. The application which notifies
the mobile was built on eclipse android development tool.

As far as my extracurricular activities are concerned I actively participated in various events that
were organized in my college such as in 3rd year I was in the management team of my college
to manage various events and for which I received a letter of appreciation also. Being a
passionate gamer, I even also organized a gaming event in my college which was considered to
be one of the best events of my college and which gave out excellent results. I was also the
runner-up in one of the gaming events of my college.

Selfishness is a large motivator when it comes to personal goals. I have always had a passion of
for developing games and programming language is like the building blocks of a game. From
this point my interest in programming language developed , I know that mastering programming
language is not a cake walk but we all know that 'If there's a will , there's a way'. I remember a
time when I tried to create a program in C language and I could not get the correct output and
same was happening for all the other programs that I made in C language. My exam was merely
two weeks away and I panicked at the thought of not being able to get the correct output. I
decided that I should practice really hard. Needless to say , my hard work really paid off and I
scored 71 out of 100 in my programming exam. From then on , I believe a lot in having
determination. This new found spirit will get me far in my life. Pursuing a master’s degree
particularly in computer science will surely help me to achieve all my goals in life.

Master’s program in Computer Science will allow me to gain in-depth understanding of <subject
list e.g. Algorithms, Programming, and Computer Systems, Networks and Architectures> and
practical application of software development. As MS programs are linked to the industry trends,
I will also gain advanced knowledge of trending domains such as Big Data, Data Analytics,
Machine Learning, High Performance Computing, Mobile Application Development, Web
Development and Cloud Computing, which are used by practicing professionals. The Master’s
program will also allow me to keep up with the fast-paced world of IT and give me the ability to
design and create software solutions in accordance with the emerging technology trends and help
me in gaining a global career in the field.

When I first started looking into possible destinations for my masters, one of the first institutions
recommended to me was <>. I actively started researching about the University and I found the
faculty and the research work to be quite impressive. I believe the next logical step for me is to
pursue Masters in Computer Science program offered by <>, which would help me engage in
research and consequently enhance the frontiers of science and technology by working in the
area of <>. I am interested in the works of Dr. <mention name> whose area of research is digital
communications, codes defined on graphs, and iterative decoding techniques. Dr. <mention
name> research interests include <> which also coincide with my interests. Moreover, the
program provides an opportunity to work on live projects with international firms, which is quite
tempting. Moreover, my recent interaction with some current students has encouraged me to be a
part of this esteemed university.

achieve all my goals and aspirations in the future.
