Technical notes:
Total fertility rate: The average number of children a hypothetical cohort of women would have at the end of their reproductive period if they were subject during
their whole lives to the fertility rates of a given period and if they were not subject to mortality. It is expressed as number of children per woman.
Healthy life expectancy at birth: Average number of years that a person can expect to live in “full health” by taking into account years lived in less than full health
due to disease and/or injury.
Median age: Age that divides the population in two parts of equal size, that is, there are as many persons with ages above the median as there are with ages
below the median.

General notes:
Single year interpolations calculated by ESCAP.
Regional and subregional figures represent population-weighted averages calculated by ESCAP. Missing values are not imputed.
This publication does not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Secretariat of the United Nations concerning the legal status of any

Two periods (..) indicate no data available.
0 indicates that the magnitude is not zero, but less than half of the unit employed.
