❖ JALAUR RIVER MULTIPURPOSE PROJECT

The Jalaur megadam project includes three dams, a 6.6-megawatt hydropower plant, and an
81-kilometer high-line canal.
The Korean contractor, Daewoo Engineering and Construction, completed the 310-meter
diversion tunnel and 30.21-m upstream cofferdam last year.
Construction is ongoing for other components, including the 109-m-high dam 10.65-m
downstream cofferdam.
❖ UNGKA 2 FLYOVER PROJECT

Location: UNGKA II, PAVIA, ILOILO

Contract Cost: 480,000,000 PESOS

The construction of the four-lane, 453.70-meter long flyover started in January this year. It
is the first of the four flyovers that will rise in the Metro Iloilo area.

❖ HIGH SPEED RAIL CALIFORNIA

Location: CALIFORNIA, USA
Contract Cost: 100 BILLION DOLLARS
Implementing Office: GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
The Authority currently has 119 miles under construction in the Central Valley within three
construction packages. Design-builder contractors Tutor-Perini/Zachry/Parsons,
Dragados-Flatiron/Joint Venture, and California Rail Builders together have 35 active
construction sites with an average of 1,100 workers dispatched each day. The high-speed
rail system planned for California will eventually encompass over 800 miles of rail, with up
to 24 stations. Because the project is so large, and will run through areas of the state with
extremely different geographical, environmental and economic issues, the project has been
broken into ten separate sections. Each of the sections will go through the same individual
Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) before
significant work can begin in the area.
❖ Chuo Shinkansen

The Chuo Shinkansen (also known as the Tokaido Shinkansen Bypass) is a new rail line
being constructed in phases, based on the Japanese Superconducting Magnetic Levitation
(Maglev) system. It will connect Tokyo and Nagoya, providing a more direct line and
reducing the travel time between the two cities by approximately 50%, compared to the
existing Tokaido Shinkansen maglev line. The project is being developed by Central Japan
Railway Company (JR Central), who will oversee all the construction and financial aspects
of the project.

The new line under phase 1 is expected to be operational in 2027.


❖ BEIJING INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Location: Daxing District, Beijing, China
Contract Cost: 17 BILLION DOLLARS
Implementing Office: GOVERNMENT OF THE CHIN
The Government of China announced the long-awaited approval for the construction of a new
international airport in January 2013. The new airport is located in Daxing, a suburb district south
of the city. It reduces congestion at the existing airport and caters to the needs of Beijing
passengers.

It is expected to handle 72 million passengers by 2025 and up to 100 million passengers and four
million tonnes of cargo upon further expansion.
