MAINTAIN HAND TOOLS,

Lesson DRAWING INSTRUMENTS,
EQUIPMENT AND
1 PARAPHERNALIA (MT)
LO 1: Maintaining Hand Tools, Drawing Instruments,
Equipment, and Paraphernalia

Drafting is the act and discipline of composing drawings that visually

communicate how something functions or is constructed. The same with
drawing and sketches, it has several things to be used. Drawing tools are the
draftsman’s best friend. Without drafting tools, it is impossible to finish a work.
That is why, this module is designed for you to learn the proper care and
maintenance of your drawing tools to prolong their service life.

What’s In

In our previous topic, you have learned the different kinds of drawing
tools and equipment together with its uses. As a grade 7 student, maybe this
is the first time that you own some of the drawing tools and equipment.
Having knowledge on how to use the tools does not end your responsibility as
a user. It is important also for you to know and learn how to maintain your

3
tools and equipment for its durability. You can assure that your tools will last
long if you patiently and religiously take care of them.

question. Write your answer on your TLE-Technical Drafting Activity Notebook.

Situation:

your drawing subject. You knew that your mother really saved money just to
acquire such tools. Now, what will you do to your drawing tools for good
stability and can save the economy?

What is It

Drafting tools are often delicate and have many intricate and small
pieces that need to be well maintained to continue working properly.
Organizing and storing these items has a great deal to do with safe keeping
in pristine shape or in a good condition and working correctly. Make the
tools always functional and in good condition for present and future use.
Good quality drawing tools can be quite an investment, but if you take
good care of them, they'll return the favor.
