PACIFIC PARAKEET

FIRE FIGHTING MONITOR OPERATION

LOCATION: Port/ Starboard Engine room forward coupled to Main Engine

PREPARATION:

BRIDGE: Plug-in the remote control console and test monitors and point on safe desired
position. Inform Engineer's which unit to operate first.

ENGINE ROOM:

• Check Fi-Fi gearbox oil in correct level.


• Open main sea suction valve and discharge by-pass valve.

STARTING: Fi-Fi operation should be done in engine room for safety purposes.

• Transfer control from Bridge Control to ECR control.


• From FIX rpm, set the Dial Control to 750 and push VARIABLE rpm.
• Set the engine on IDLING rpm.
e And then, CLUTCH-IN the desired FI-Fi unit to use
• Confirm to the bridge, if there is water coming out to Fi-Fi nozzle, if yes
• Open Main Discharged valve
• Gradually manual increase rpm on Dial Control and set to 750.
• And then, push FIX rpm.
• Transfer control to Bridge Control.

NOTE: When first unit reach the rated speed, transfer the power to other shaft geny or
auxiliary geny. Repeat the STARTING sequence to the next unit.

STOPPING:

• Transfer control from Bridge Control to ECR control


• From FIX rpm, set the Dial Control to 750 and push VARIABLE rpm.
• Set the engine on IDLING rpm.
• And then, DE- CLUTCH desired Fi-Fi unit to stop.
• After DE-CLUTCH, from VARIABLE rpm.
• Gradually manual increase rpm on Dial Control and set to 750.
• And then, push FIX rpm.
• Transfer power from other shaft or auxiliary generator.
• And then transfer control to Bridge Control.

ENGINE ROOM:
• Drain the water to the pipe line, monitors and close all valves.

BILGE PUMP OPERATION

LOCATION: Starboard Aft Engine Room

Note: Bilge Chest Locations

• Bow Thruster Room x 3 suction valves


• Engine Room x 5 suction valves
• Cement Room x 2 suction valves
• Stem Thruster Room x 5 suction valves

PREPARATION FOR RUNNING

• Open seawater suction valve


• Open suction/ discharge valve on the pump
• Open overboard valve, located at starboard aft pillar under floor plates
• Open valve on bilge chest on chosen space to pump
• Start the pump, once the pump achieved good suction pressure, close seawater
valve
• Open the fresh water valve.

Note: Keep F.W valve open when pump is running for lubrication and cooling of the
pump.

STOPPING OPERATION

• Before stopping, open sea water supply valve and close the valve on bilge suction.
• Run the pump at least 10- 15 minutes to flush the system.
• Stop the pump
• Close all valves at the pump and valve chest.

DIRECT BILGE OPERATION

USING FIRE / BILGE PUMP

LOCATION: Located at starboard side, beside of sewage plant.

NOTE: ALL VALVES ARE NORMALLY CLOSE.


• Suction valve port- located underneath of main sea water cooling pump.

• Suction - located underneath of flexible coupling port.

• Suction valve stb'd- located in front of fresh water pump.

Note: The suction pipe starboard is branch to Bilge Pump, need to open
both suction valve of the bilge pump.

USING BALLAST/ BILGE PUMP

LOCATION: Located at cement room portside aft underneath stair going up to upper
cement room.

NOTE: ALL VALVES ARE NORMALLY CLOSE.


• Suction valve - painted with black/ red beside stair going up to cement
room.
• Discharge overboard valve - located under floor plates in front of the
stair.
