Circuit 1: Introduction to 3/2 way valve and single acting cylinder

Requires:

 Single acting cylinder

3/2 way valve (manually operated, spring return)

Result: Pushing the button extends the actuator, releasing the button returns the actuator
Circuit 2: Introduction to remote control and safe circuit design

Requires:

 Double acting cylinder

 3/2 way valve
5/2 way valve (pneumatic valve with spring return)

Result: Using the 3/2 way valves remotely, set up the 5/2 way valve in order to make the double
acting cylinder mimic the single acting cylinder from Circuit 1

Pushing the button extends the actuator, releasing the button returns the actuator

**This is an example of remote control and can be used to control high pressure cylinders from a
distance using lower pressure lines**
Circuit 3: Introduction to logic and multiple input requirements for safety

Requires:

 Double acting cylinder

 2 x 3/2 way valves
5/2 way valve (pneumatic valve with spring return)

Result: Both buttons are needed to provide the forward stroke while only one button is needed to
power the return stroke

**This is a simplified example of AND logic (forward stroke) and can be used for safety reasons
(operator must take both hands away from the cylinder in order to deploy it)**
Circuit 4: Introduction to sequential operations

Requires:

 Double acting cylinder

 Single acting cylinder
 2 x 3/2 way valves
 5/2 way impulse valve (pneumatic)
 Branch connector

Result: Button 1 provides a forward stroke on the double acting cylinder while button 2 retracts the
double acting cylinder and simultaneously powers the single acting cylinder

**This is an example of sequential operations on an assembly line where one cylinder moves the
piece on the x-axis, after which another cylinder moves it on the y-axis**
Circuit 5: Introduction to time delays and pulses using flow control

Requires:

 Single acting cylinder

 3/2 way valve
 5/2 way valve (spring return)
 Branch connector
One way valve with flow control
 Air output blocking pin

Sticking the pin into port No. 4 of the 5/2 way valve will mimic a 3/2 way valve (pneumatically
operated, spring return)

Result: With the flow control closed button 1 provides a forward stroke on the cylinder in the
normal way. Opening the flow control by increments leads to pulsed response from the cylinder with
pulses growing shorter as it is opened.

**This is an example of including timing and pulses into a circuits using flow control**
