EULER EQUATION-PROBLEMS
A solid round bar 60 mm in diameter and 2.5 m long is used as a strut. One end of the
strut is fixed, while its other end is hinged. Find the safe compressive load for this strut,
using Euler’s formula. Assume E = 200 GN/m2 and factor of safely = 3.

EULER EQUATION-PROBLEMS
Calculate the safe compressive load on a hollow cast iron column (one end rigidly fixed
and the other hinged) of 150 mm external diameter, 100 mm internal diameter and 10 m
length. Use Euler’s formula with a factor of safety of 5, and E = 95 GN/m2.
